Business Class @ Coronado

So, I was researching yesterday and learned that requesting Business Class at Coronado secures you a great location plus a lounge similar to Club Level (not as good, but still a bonus) at Deluxes. (We got an upgrade at Boardwalk in December for our honeymoon to the Club Level and it was amazing).

Turns out to switch our reservation (and use a new holiday savings package that came out recently) to Business Class with the new savings was actually $20 cheaper than standard with a standard package. I was thrilled!

Any experience with this location and/or lounge?

Congratulations!! We have never stayed there with the Business Class amenities, but we did stay in a room in the section that became Business Class when they added that category. We really liked it, and it would've been our first choice location for another stay if they hadn't made it a more expensive category. So for less money, better location, plus more amenities, sounds good to me!
Have a wonderful time!!

Wow. It sounds like you got a great discount! Colour me jealous. We've stayed BC at CSR a couple of times. Actually, I wouldnt stay at CSR in any other room category. For us the location is even better than with a preferred room. It's a very short walk to dining, the bus stop and the Dig site and nearest quiet pool. Our room came with Terry cloth robes and a DVD player, which you won't find in other mod rooms. And they had the comfiest beds.

The Coconino Lounge is a great added amenity. One that we used multiple times every day. They have a pretty good continental breakfast every morning ( and very good coffee). Late afternoon they reopen with light snacks as well as sodas, beer, wine and sangria, as well as coffee, tea, or cocoa. Around the dinner hour ( 5-7???) they will also have nibbles like olives, hummus and salsa with chips, and a few other savouries. Plus, they start bringing out the freshly baked cookies. The white chocolate macadamia nut ones were to die for. Just taking advantage of the food offerings here more than offset the upcharge for BC for us. Plus the CMs in the lounge were just the nicest, most helpful guys you'd ever want to meet.

Hope you have a wonderful stay.

Congratulations - we've stayed (family of 4) in the business class at CSR for the past two years. The location for the Cabanas 9B makes it along with the size/room amenities. The lounge is nice and my girls love the Snickerdoodle cookies they put out in the evenings. The pool is one of the best from all the resorts.

Can anyone shed some light on what we can expect from the clientele at Coronado, specifically business class? Are there going to be drunk business people hooking up with one another in the next room?

Obviously I'm exaggerating, but I would honestly like to know whether I have to worry about that type of thing. It's the only resort on property with a "night club."

I'm sure it's pretty family oriented despite being a hotel for conventions (don't forget the Contemporary and Beach Club have convention centers too). I stayed there 15 years ago with my family when I was 21 and I don't remember a wild group of drunken business travelers. But also, why would you have to worry about that affecting you? I doubt it would influence your trip. The Business Class seems to be better location and lounge (with snacks, not a night club) that plenty of families utilize and the name is sort of a misnomer.

When we last stayed there we didn't see anyone drunk or hooking up the entire time at the resort.

I tried to convince the wife to do both, but that didn't work out so well for me.;):(

I actually don't recall seeing anyone in any type of business attire.
Did you stay Business Class by any chance? Will it be frowned upon of my toddler is romping around the BC lounge?

I've taken my family and stayed at CSR in business class for the past two years (mid-September timeframe). We've never seen (or heard) anything like what you are describing. Now that you mention it, in our last 4 years of trips, we haven't seen a drunk person at all - even in our one venture to Downtown Disney. It could all depend on what time of year you go and what type of convention the resort is hosting.

 Night club? What night club? What have I been missing on my previous stays there? (Answer: nothing. CSR does not have a night club). It has a couple of bar/lounges in the main building, which serve a full bar menu. They do not, however have live entertainment, which you would have in a night club. And yes, I have seen some conventioneers in those places in the evenings. I've never noticed drunks, however. I don't know what kind of conventions you're used to participating in, but the ones I've seen at the Disney resorts seem to spend their evenings networking over a few beverages, rather than indulging in chugging contests like a bunch of college kids.

If you're referring to Coconino lounge, it is neither a night club nor a bar/lounge. It is a lounge area which serves an assortment of snacks and nonalcoholic beverages along with a very restricted variety of alcoholic drinks limited to beer, wine and sangria. It is a family lounge. Guests of all sorts ( adults, or families with children) can sit with a drink and snacks, watch TV, or chat amongst themselves at tables or on the sofas scattered about. And only those who are staying in that one building are allowed access to that lounge. On the evenings when I have been there, kids have been the noise makers, and the ones most likely to be disruptive, not the adult groups.

And while it would be completely appropriate for you to bring your child into Coconino, it would not be appropriate for your child to be romping around the room. There is a playground for that.

Disney describes Rix as an upscale nightclub with live DJs.

Well the DJ must be seasonal, then. I've never seen or heard one during our stays, although I've heard music playing. (But I don't really hang out in the main building all night) Interestingly, the resort webpage makes no mention of Rix lounge being a night club, only the food blog does. Of all the TripAdvisor reviews I've seen, only 1 mentioned a DJ playing. Upscale? That's mostly Disneyspeak for expensive. And it's adults only after a certain time at night.

At any rate, it's no different than any other bar at any other resort on property. People go there to drink, eat, and socialize. And it's not going to affect anything over in the BC building.

There has live entertainment or DJ at Rix Lounge. Doesn't start until after 9pm. It may depend on the crowds/conventions. I believe it was more popular when it first opened. It was voted most trendy bar in Orlando a few years back. They do now have the NFL Sunday ticket so for those wanting to see their team play, they can do that at the resort. And they also have seasonal events for NYE, Cinco de Mayo and the Super Bowl. They even do weddings. Rix is also operated by Springs Food Service, the same company that operates Cafe Rix, Las Ventanas, the Pepper Market, Siestas Cantina, Laguna Bar and the Maya Grill as well as all the establishments in Mexico (EPCOT).

Had my honeymoon last November at CSR and stayed in a business class room. It was wonderful. The business lounge is super convenient. You can walk to it in less than a minute and it won't be nearly as crowded as bars and restaurants in El Centro. It isn't a full breakfast buffet by any means but it provides just enough food (and coffee!) to get up and going in the morning. In the evenings, you can stop by, grab an adult beverage, and stroll the grounds. When the wife and I both took turns battling some sort of short duration stomach virus, the people in the lounge were very understanding and gave us some little care packages of food and drink that were easy on the stomach to take back to the room.

Business class is also located incredibly close to the main bus stop at El Centro. That stop is the last to be picked up which is good and bad because it means you don't have to sit through all of the other stops before you are off to your destination but if you are traveling during peak times, you may end up standing (didn't bother us, the excitement of just going to the parks was more than enough of a distraction). Being last to be picked up means you are also the last dropped off so in the evenings, when you tired, you have to sit thru all of the other stops which can sometimes feel like it takes forever but you always have the option of getting off at an earlier stop and walking (we always preferred to just stay seated in the air conditioned bus).

Being that close to the bus stop can mean a little noise from the buses themselves but I never found it to be annoying.

In terms of the clientele, I think we got there just as a convention was ending as we saw lots of people in business casual attire with lanyards the first couple of days but then saw none the rest of the week. I don't remember any rude behavior by guests or convention attenders at all. Perhaps it was a tame convention group that week. In fact, I don't even remember seeing or really hearing (save a crying child for a short time one night) any of the other guest staying in our section (perhaps because we were usually up and out early, back pretty late, and never there during the middle of the day).

Overall, if it was in the budget, I would definitely stay there again.
