Here's some info from Screamscape when the news first hit about the offer:

(6/12/08) Anheuser-Busch confirmed late yesterday that they have now officially received an unsolicited purchase offer for the company from InBev, who is offering to acquire all outstanding shares for $65 in cash. As required, the AB board of directors and their various advisors will go over the proposal to determine what action is in the best interest of the shareholders. Typically this kind of process usually takes months before a decision is reached, so don’t look for any surprises to take place anytime soon.
On a personal note, I would find any sale of Anheuser-Busch to be quite depressing. Not just from the likely sale of the theme park side of the business, but the thought that such a giant American powerhouse business icon could be lost to a hostile foreign takeover is kind of numbing. Especially the AB has entrenched themselves to be about as “American” as you can get with their constant support to the men and women of our military through the Hero’s Salute programs. They’ve become part of just about every huge American sports league from Baseball to NASCAR to their huge SuperBowl ad campaigns. AB’s own corporate icon of an Eagle also reflects that of the American Eagle, and somehow that is just all going to feel wrong if the company is taken-over by InBev, a giant created by a previous monster merger in 2004 of Interbrew (Belgium) and AmBev (Brazil).

And now here's the latest how a Missouri senator recently said she is not on board with this and wants to put a stop deal:

It's the way of the world. Most "American" cars aren't even made in America and I don't see how a Belgium & Brazilian company buying Anheuser Busch would be a great travesty.

Thanks Darthjohnny! That info was right on! I do not want any take over of an American company. They at least are doing things the right way w/ the Hero's Salute and the Animal Conservation stuff. If they were a slacking American company it would be different. But I think they do a great job of giving back to the communities they are in. I am a sentimental patriot and I want to keep the parks as they are! I am not sure anyone else would have that same committment that the Busch family obviously has.

Hopefully they can counter and keep the whole company intact. I still need to make a trip to Aquatica!! ;)

ps this is my 100th post!:sohappy:

Looks like Anheuser is going to sell over the weekend. With that business taken care of the question of who ends up with the Busch parks can start being asked.

I'm putting money down on Nakheel (the company building BEC's parks in Dubai) being the most likely suitor. They're already licensing the name from Busch and with that is going on in Dubai they're operating arrangement with InBev wouldn't be all that different that what they have with Busch now.

Number two mostly likely suitor will no doubt be GE/NBC Universal. With that is going on in Dubai as well as what is going on in Orlando they would be stupid not to make a go of it. Factor in the new parks opening in Singapore and South Korea and Universal would become a HUGE theme park operator if they walked away with the Busch parks.

Let the rampant speculation begin!

It sucks that employees will no longer get free beer. I just hope the new owners take care of the parks and don't turn them into Cedar Fair or Six Flags type parks!

I could care less about the crappy beer being owned by someone else, but I'm incredibly concerned with what will happen with these parks. The Busch company has been doing a great job lately with these properties and I'm deathly afraid of what happened to Knotts happening to the Busch properties.

FYI, "American Owned" has been removed from signage at the park. You can see how it has been taped over outside of the hospitality house sign at the fiberglass Clydesdale.

They have also removed banners that hung from lampposts.
