Busch Gardens: Has this happened to anyone else?

I was at BG a couple of weeks back and was looking forward to some rough, exhilarating dueling action on Gwazi. We chose Tiger as thequeue was about 5-10 mins, but Lion was 20-25 mins (still not huge queues right?). I was extremely annoyed that the BG operators don't bother to even set the trains off at the same time!!!!!! No duelling! It's a disgrace! It was even as if the park was crowded? This happened to anyone else?

Whenever I've done it they've always set them off together. Perhaps there was a technical problem earlier in the day which threw the timing out?

Anyway, i think gwazi is one of my favourite coasters.

Nothing like that wooden feeling!!

They have stopped dueling Gwazi to speed the line up even if it is short. Although, if you do ask and the line is short, they may duel them upon request.

OK I can understand it at peak peiods (even though if they are duelling surely the lines would move the same speed as if they aren't) but in crowdless times with waits less than 20mins on both sides it is appaling and they should always duel them at least when its quiet. What's the point in having duelling coasters if they don't duel? It just sounds so stupid!!!!!!

I don't see the point in this, as surely both will take the same time, both in loading and in ride time?

Yes, it does eem stupid, but that's how it is. They'll even dispatch trains seconds apart just because they are instructed not to duel regularly. If you'll ask, there is a chance they will duel them if the two trains are reasonably close together in loading.

I remember when they used to be Duling, It was a fun Time.

(I practcally used to live at BGT durring the summer,)
I road it within the First month the attraction was open, It was its 3rd week open to the Public And a Thunder storm came.

I wated in that line for front seat for like 3 HRS.

was worth it. For both sides it was.
But now barely anyone will ride it ti seams like. I see montu at 90 min, and Gwazi at 15 min. (I love riding in front seat, always a small line their.

Yeah it happened the last time I was there. The group I was with and I ended up riding about 5 times in a row until finally getting a duel. That duel wasnt even timed exactly. Lion took off a fraction before Tiger which kinda threw all of the duel elements. I was incredibly disappointed. But at least that is better then when one of the sides isnt running....

I know I am playing devil's advocate but wasnt it advertised as a dualing coaster when it first opened?... I think that is what is so disappointing about what happened. People went in wanting the near misses that were advertised... and they have to ASK for it?!?! That seems like shoddy managment to me......

When I went one side was down for repairs (they even had men on the track). So I don't know what was going on.

But I remember it was news a while back that they were not dueling anymore.

Guess you have to go to IOA to duel.

In theory, what you say is correct but it will almost always take longer to load 20 people than 10 or 20 than 40 and so on. It doesn’t really matter if we are talking about two trains or one. Inevitably, one will load faster than the other for some reason or another be it a guest who changes their mind at the last minute, someone who takes longer to get in or someone who has something with them like a big stuffed animal that they aren’t supposed to have on the actual ride or something. I’ve been on rides where my train has had to wait for three minutes plus on the other train for insignificant reasons like these and on a busy day, that could be the difference between weather or not a thousand or more people get to ride. Still, it seems like that sort of thing should be the exception to the rule most of the time. The ride was designed with the whole near miss thing in mind and with that element removed, they significantly reduce the thrill of the ride. It was designed with this factored in ALONG WITH daily ride capacity so either someone made a serious mistake and promised more than they should have when it was designed or the park decided they want more out of it… Either way, it’s not a good thing to me. :(

I know it is a long time someone replied to this, but when I went to Busch Gardens in April, I rode Gwazi and it was messed up. Both trains were running, but they were always timed wrong. There was only one time it was timed perfect. I liked the ride itself, but I really wished it was timed right. The line was about 30 minutes.

They don't run Gwazi together anymore to try and speed up the lines. Sometimes if it's slow, you can request the trains to duel, and they will though.
