Bus Service at PO Riverside

I'm staying there in April and was wondering how the Bus service is? Also, how long does it take for the boat from Downtown Disney to get to Riverside? How late does it run? I'm looking forward to staying there. I haven't been there since '93.

Bus service shouls be pretty ok since you wont have to worry about getting mushed onto that bus with people from the French Quater....the boat should take like 15-20 minutes t o get to Downtown....im not sure how late it runs but i dont htink its very late (like dont expect to spend all nite at Pleasure Island and then take the boat back)

We just back from staying at the Riverside and the bus service was extrmely efficient in my opinion. We never waited more than fifteen minutes at any time during our eight days there. We did not take the boat ride, but guest services at the hotel, and a cast member at Downtown Disney both told me the last boat leaves the downtown area at 11:00 every day of the week.

By the way, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I felt it was outstanding in every way and far better than every other hotel I have ever stayed in and that includes the Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary, and the Polynesian. I faxed my room request in three days before and not only did they have it recorded on the screen when I got there they accomodated every request.

If you have any other questions I would be glad to help.

Hey George C... I mean Art V., the Sassagoula boat ride leaves once an hour until the late afternoon, maybe 4:30 - 5 pm, at which time it starts making more frequent trips. Ride it for the fun of it, not just to go from point A to point B, especially if you are lucky enough to have a skipper named Donald from Indianapolis. He's very entertaining and knows everything about Disney, especially the flora and fauna you'll see from the boat if you go in the daytime. I was on that boat ride last Friday afternoon.

We have been stayng at Port Orleans (French Quarter) since 1998 (minus these last couple years because of their forever long refurbishment) ...but anyway, the Flora and Fauna things rings a bell and I can't remember exactly what it was about...:lookaroun so if you could refresh my memory that would be great!! I also remember very vaguely about a pair of tennis shoes hanging from a tree...do you recall anything like this? It's been about 3 years for me:lol: :) :)

I honestly feel that the transportation at POR is more efficient than Caribbean Beach or Coronado Springs. POR has the Sassagoula boat to downtown like everyone has been talking about. I also think that buses come around more at POR...I have only been there during the summer, so that could be why it seems like there are more buses and a lot less waiting time. But this is just my opinion. :)

Now you've got me wondering about the tennis shoes. That rings a bell, but I can't remember. I'm not sure what you're thinking about regarding the plants and animals. Skipper Donald on the boat ride would point out something like the Spanish moss and tell a little story about it. Or if we could see any of the mudhens that migrate to Florida every winter, he would entertain his passengers with a story that was both educational and funny. If you are interested, send me a PM and I'll give you a link to my trip report I posted on another Disney fan site. :sohappy:
