Bus Fire

Just saw a bus that had been on fire on EPCOT Center Dr. westbound. The back was pretty roasted, with several Reedy Creek emergency vehicles surrounding it and blocking all lanes of traffic. Anyone know anything more?

It's been awhile since a bus has caught fire, not bad for vehicles that run more miles than the average bus. But I hope no one was caught in the blaze.

When they came out with the bus pins, a guy made fantasy pins of it with flames coming out. That was about 3 years ago

There was a non Disney tourist bus yesterday with teenagers on board from New York I believe, they had spent the day at MK.The driver called in to 911 reporting that he smelled and saw smoke. He got all the kids off the bus, and they were ok.

These things do happen from time to time. Its just like car fires, they just happen.

very correct. I am actually suprised - being a firefighter - that there are not more bus fires with the ammount of use they get and in the heat conditions they run in.

I can assure you that they would not of held a training exercise on the road there though. Not logical and not enough control over the situation. Keep scanning the news, surely something will come out of the woodwork.

Seriously, and some of the stuff they have to respond to is very difficult to deal with on many levels.

Actually, it was a WDW Nova Bus that burnt up last night. This resulted in Disney pulling all of the Novas off the road until they could be inspected. I believe it was some form of hydraulic line leak. So they were short 50 -60 buses today. They had to bring a few of the retired RTS' out of retirement to help out. GSM's were also transporting guests in vans.

I'm surprised they didn't set up a queue and make it into a new ride experience. Maybe they could have added it to the backlot tour at the Studios
