>>Build-A-Bear has opened a new shop at the Outlets at Orange.

The toy shop, known for its birthday parties where kids can create their own stuffed animals, is next to Timberland and near Under Armour in a newly built segment of the mall. It replaces the pop-up Owl Fish boutique. Address: 20 City Blvd W., Space #1430.

The retailer in a statement said it would be donating 400 bears to CHOC Children’s Hospital.

Build-A-Bear at Downtown Disney is slated to close after the holidays, making room for new restaurants on the Disneyland resort property.<<

Glad to see they found a new home, and that they become even more popular in the new location, which will be at lot easier to go to than DtD. (My wife went last Sunday, and it was crazy, and no parking was available.

Actually, who cares about Rainforest Café, what about Earl of Sandwich?

Or the LEGO Store!!!! (And more importantly, the restrooms in the same building)

And will the Monorail go on extended Hiatus this Spring for a few years???

Off to the Outlets later today, so will give you a first hand report about Build-A-Bear.

The LEGO store stays. At least the building is in the art

That is my understanding, but things are always subject to change at Disney.

But looking at the facades of DtD and The Outlets, it is amazing how much nicer The Outlets look.

I’m surprised they didn’t consider gardenwalk. It would have added another popular shop to that mall and still be close to Disney

Build-A-Bear Orange is quite large, but they only have a small set up. Once DtD closes, they will be moving much of the shelving, machinery, etc. and redesign the store after the Holidays.

The Outlets are close, there are a couple of ART routes that go there. It also has WAY more visitors than AGW. The Outlets are also very popular with foreigners. Add to that the easier access to those who want to do a BAB Party, and it is clear that they made the right choice, if the rent was right. And it looks like they took over someone else's lease.

I know it's all subjective, but really? While we could cherry-pick nice examples from either, In my opinion they're both in the running to be poster-children for bland design.

Speaking of "outlets", have you been down to Outlets at San Clemente yet? They've got some fairly impressive animatronics. In the courtyard that features their Santa, there are four upstairs "balconies" featuring deer that are constantly moving, occasionally enough to shake their jingle bells. It was an unexpected surprise to come across those.

I'll look for some video (or try to get some on my own if I head down there again). Until then, here's a quick image courtesy of Google.
