I was just wondering if there are any good buffets at Disney that are not Character breakfast/lunch/dinners. We have already done a couple character meals. On our next trip our boys are going to be 11 and 14 and I have already been told by them "no more character meals mom we are too old for that". Even though i think you can never be too old for characters. And with two growing boys buffets are the best and cheapest way to go..... thanks for the help.....

Too OLD for character meals      OMG! What planet are they from???? I'm in my late twenties and 3 of my favourite meals/restaurants are character meals.

Try the Trail's End at Fort Wilderness. It's a buffet but with no characters. I haven't eaten there...yet, will be on this trip. It's the only non-character buffet that comes to mind.

Well if you don't want to eat at character places there are a few good all you can eat options. Cape May Cafe has a great dinner buffet, as does Boma. Ohana and Whispering Canyon are also good all you can eat options. One of my favorites, which is cheap and overlooked, is Trail's End in Fort Wilderness. Any of these choices will give you great meals.

Boma in AKL.
Hollywood & Vine in MGM.
O'hana's for dinner in the Poly hotel.
Garden Grill in Epcot, not a buffet, but it is all you can eat.
Germany in Epcot everyone raves about, but I can't stand the smell of the food there, even when I'm just walking by, probably because I hate saurkraut(sp?).

Here's a website to check out menu items for the buffet's www.allearsnet.com. I have to say that even though it has characters, my favorite breakfast buffet is crystal palace.

Trails End is good and cheap (for a Disney Buffet). If you are at the Magic Kingdom it is a nice short boat ride to Fort Wilderness. As you exit the MK the boat dock is straight ahead of the exit. We rediscovered it last week when the park became really crowded and we were going back to the Wilderness Lodge for lunch. The boat stopped at Fort Wilderness first and we remembered the buffet.

Octoberfest in Germany is an all-you can eat buffet, really, really good (if you like sausage)...that is where me and my family have dinner for the Candleling Processional for the last 4 years....

Hollywood and Vine is my personal favorite, but it is going to character breakfast and lunch soon........

 Too old for characters!? This kid is almost 50 and she still loves the character meals.

I'll have to agree with DisneyInsider and suggest the Cape May Cafe in the Beach Club for the seafood buffet, they have other things too for the non seafood lover. The all you care to eat skillets in the Whispering Canyon Cafe are good (breakfast is our favorite). 'Ohana is yummy too.

Haven't been to the others, but I'm always game to try a new buffet.

Garden Grill is all you can eat but hosted by Chip and Dale along with Mickey and Pluto. Kind of defeats the no character rule.

TOO OLD? If you want you can send them to the Hall of Presidents instead of going on Thunder Mountain while you're at it! I'd love to go to a Character meal! I'm 21 too, and I love them!

Garden Grill definitely still has characters. Hollywood&Vine did last time I ate there, not sure if they still do or not.

Its not listed on the Character meal chart. Of course, everything is subject to change.

I didn't realize that GG still had the characters. H&V I think they don't have characters yet, but I know there was talk of them, but it would only be for breakfast and lunch, not for dinner.

Thanks for all the help i will be checking out those listed here. And will keep trying to convince the kids they arent too old for the character meals. After all they could always just sit there and eat while I go crazy and get pics and autographs from each characters..lol.. and get that "oh mom pleaseee stop now" look from the kids..lol thanks again.....

Since you're staying at Wilderness Lodge, definitely do Whispering Canyon. :) If you do get them to some character buffets (Chef Mickey's is great, as is Crystal Palace and Cape May Cafe), tell them that they don't really have to interact with the characters and do the autograph/picture thing. Just smile and enjoy it! :D

Thats true, we were at the Princess Dinner in Norway and there were a few teenage boys and older girls who did not want to participate in the autographs and photos. The group I saw politely told the waitress that they did not want to be visited and the Princesses respected that request.
