Buffets now $60!!??

I guess I don't understand the confusion, the buffets have always had "surge pricing," at least they have in the 10 years we've had our AP's. That's why the Disney site lists a price range on any given day and not the current, actual price.

We ate at Chef Mickey's for dinner a month ago and I'm reasonably sure the current listed range (35-59) was the same then when I booked the ressie in the app. I've long misplaced the receipt, but looking at my debit charge and backing out the tip and TIB d/c, we paid 39 and change per adult.

I'm not saying these prices are reasonable or anything like that, I just think people are overblowing a simple Web publishing mistake. Correct me if I'm wrong, but no one was actually charged the higher, incorrect ts credit, right?

34.99 is not the child price but the low end/off-peak Adult price.

I respect your attempt to bring a modicum of logic and elementary observation to the thread(s) but at this point it's soaking up a tidal wave with a sponge.

It does appear that at this time it is a simple update to their "$" pricing key. An increase could be on the horizon and it could theoretically increase to the maximum of the range, but so far every indication is that has not happened.

It looks like the new ranges are as follows:

Ever wonder why America's best days are behind it? Answer: economic illiteracy of the voting public. This is so simple. If it's difficult to get a dining reservation at a particular restaurant six months in advance, by definition that restaurant is priced below market.

And that definition would be way too overly simplistic, as there are many factors driving that demand, including artificial inventory control. Disney has accustomed folks to having to book six months in advance, so they have little calendars set up so they know the exact date to call. The thing is, it's not like all the tables go up that day at once. They meter them out over months to draw out said demand. Along with a few other things they do to muck with this, you can't just make some summary definition without looking below the hood and seeing exactly what is going on under it.

Do you suppose it was just a coincidence that on the bottom of a couple of pages in this thread was an advertisement for Coupons for Golden Corral. I have never had bad food at a GC, and it was always great. Of course, they didn't have college students dressed in costumes and foam heads wandering around either. I guess you can figure out that it would never be a choice for me to pay that kind of price even if they were actually serving mouse parts.

Has anyone confirmed yet that the buffets have in fact increased to $60 yet?
Maybe it will be a special 60 dollar buffet that is only available during the EMHs the were apparently cancelling an masse two months ago? Maybe they'll have a private viewing of the welcome show they also cancelled at the MK?

Go to the Disney website. It still lists Chef Mickey's as $35 to $59.99 as the price range. At some time during the year that buffet will be charging $60, at other times less. There is no mention of the $60 buffet being special or different.

Looks like more demand type pricing. Crystal Palace shows $35-$59.99 for an adult. Old price was $35-$44.

I assumed that the prices were raised recently. I'm not following the prices very closely so if you say they were already in that range I believe you. It doesn't change the fact that it's really high and significantly more than it was even 5 years ago. I know the price range did not go up to $60 back then.

California grill shows the same price range. It is an indication of the price range that place fits into not the range of that specific venue. Buffet pricing might top out at 49.99 or 55 or it might go to 60.

As far as I remember, the prices were listed the same during my Fall 2015 trip.

I'm really curious to know if this is just an internet unsubstantiated rumor, or if it is actually likely to happen. I have the DDP booked for our trip, was planning on cancelling due to me planning more meals than we would have credits for. But if all character meals are $60 then I would keep the DDP and pay the other meals out of pocket.

It's just silly that they won't list the actual buffet price when you book since it's a fixed price. That's just really confusing.

I was there in August 2015 and the Cape May Cafe dinner buffet was $45 for adults. It's also listed as $59.99 at the high end on the WDW site. I think you are right that nothing changed.

Yeah, I think it's only Thanksgiving and Christmas for those prices, not 100% sure.

We have a VIP Premium Tour booked for Black Friday (starting to have buyer's remorse and not certain if I will keep it but that's another convo lol), anyway, the tours range from $400 per hour - $600 per hour, 7 hour minimum. When I called I was almost hoping that I would be quoted $600 so I could scratch it off the list. Surprisingly- it isn't near $600 during that week, which is one of the busiest times of the year. From what I've heard anyway, this will be our first time during the holidays. But, it seems like their "highest" prices are more the minority of days than majority for dining/rooms/tours.
