Good Morning Folks..Only a Scotsman would ask this question..As excitement starts to build up for our 2015 Farewell trip..There is a very good chance we will be staying at AKL with Free:) DDP..Now I've started researching TS restaurants, and we will have 14 credits per person ( 3 adults ) per day..In the past we've done Le Cellier...Jiko..Cali Grill..( All 2 credits ) But we fancy trying at least 2 signature places, and we've picked out Yachtsmen Steak House and Flying Fish..As for the first night we will probably just use a QS credit and do another at the end of our first week..Anyway to the scots question,( @figmentfan423 are you reading this LOL ) We want to try a Buffet meal and have opted for Boma at AKL..We have never done this " Eat as much as you like " meal before..I know it's a table service and you help yourself, but do you tip anyone.?..I don't want to embarrass myself so I'd like to know forehand before getting hissed as we walk out the restaurant..

Yep you still tip. A waiter will still be bringing your drinks and clearing your plates from the table and getting anything else you need.
Cheers for that..I'll never forget my first meal in a pizza place on I- Drive..When the server put down our bill on our table it had 3 prices that had 3 wee faces on it..The first was 10% and $35.00:(...The second was 15% and $40.00:hungry:..And the third was 20% and $45.00:D...I looked at Mrs Hatter who smiled and said " Welcome to America honey.":joyfull:

We loved Boma!! but have only done it for breakfast. There are three of us as well, at the buffet dinners, we normally tip $5.

If you get quick drink refills and pleasant service it's the custom to tip between 15 and 20 percent even at buffets. The servers must declare at least 8% on their taxes on the total of each bill. There is cheap and then there's public humiliation.:D

Yes, you still tip. There is a price fix per person that includes non-drinkipoo drinks. So your bill will be the price fixed amount for 3 adults and then any drinkipoos you add. So you would tip off what your bill would have been if you didn't use the TS credits.

Even though it is free DDP they bring you a bill at end of meal like any dining experience. When you settle bill then you can leave a tip.

This is always one of the hotly debated issues with buffet meals...the tip. I know some people tip the 18-20% recommended on the check while others tip in the $1-2/pp range...which I've often also seen as the protocol when partaking in Vegas style buffets. Regardless, you'll leave a gratuity for your server if you're not in a scenario where there's automatic gratuity.
