Budget Trip. Sugestions?

Is it possible to keep a trip under 2G with air fare and all for a week long trip? Of course I don't mean along with expenses once on the property like food and stuff. But I guess what I'm looking for is affordable packages...something along the lines of 7 days with park hoppers, airfare and being able to stay on property.

I've checked out the packages from Disney and they're just a tad expensive for what I can afford. Any suggestions on other places to look for some decent deals?

I know Disney is an expensive place, it was always a stretch for my mom to get us down there but now I'd like to try on my own and I know some of you know where to get some pretty good prices.

Thanks.:)

I'm sure it's possible, depending on when you want to go, how many people etc.

Try Expedia, I booked a great "budget" package on there for over the Easter period. Whilst I can't comment on expedia.com, expedia.co.uk was by far the cheapest, most convinient and had the best flight.

Hmmm......It'd be tough, for an entire week.

First off, how many people? That's the most important thing.

I just booked a trip for 4 people, and we got some great deals. We spent about $2,500.

I would firstly, get your airfare. If you live in an area where Jet Blue flies from, you could probbaly get airfare for about $180 per person round trip.

Lodging - Stay at a Value Resort. Or, look online for people who rent out their Disney Time Share. They have great deals and charge per room, instead of per person.

Then, go with 7 day park hopper passes.

It is definitely possible. How many people are going?

I took my family of 6 in February (8 days) for about $2,300. And that included tickets, travel, hotel (off site) and food.

I have always found that the packages don't always make the best deal. It would probably be better to break it up and buy everything seperately.

Check out Mousesavers.com for the latest hotel discount offers and codes. Consider getting an Annual Pass in order to get a better deal on a hotel.

Look at Kingdom Konsultants and see if they have offers, packages or suggestions on the latest discounts.

Sign up with sites like Travelzoo.com to get the latest offers and last-minute fares. They send out a weekly email that has the latest deals and Orlando is almost always on that list.

If you have to go on a budget, you can.

They want to stay on property though.

You can still do it. Like I said, serach onine and try to find someone renting out their Disney Time Share for the week.

We're staying at Old Key West for 5 nights for $500 - All together for 4 people. That's super cheap!!!

We wanted to go for afew more nights, so we're staying at All Star Movies.

It can be done.

Thanks! Theres 2 of us going. I've considered maybe staying at one of the on property hotels that isn't owned by Disney also but haven't looked into it yet.

I'll do some digging at expedia and anywhere else I can find.

I've thought about not going with a package...we'll see.

This is all still sort of up in the air. These are the very early stages of my secret plan muhahahaha lol. It's hopefully going to be a surprise for my girlfriend. :D

2 of you?????

Oh, you could DEFINITELY go for under $2,000.

You could book a package easily for 7 nights, with airfare, hotel on site, and length of stay passes for about $1,800.

In fact, if you spent over $2,000, you're getting ripped off if it's only 2 people. Unless of course, you decide to stay at the Contemporary or one of the deluxe resorts.

My friend just went for a week with his son and I think he got ripped off by spending $1800 through a travel agent.

With two people that shouldn't be a problem. We had to stay offsite due to the fact that Disney hotels typically don't hold more than four people without going moderate or luxury.

Onsite, airfare, and tickets should put you there for much less. Remember, Disney just announced their 7 days for 5 deal. Check that out.

Ok I went to Expedia and staying at the all star music for 8 days with park hoppers and airfare comes to $1,692.50. I'm tempted to try for a moderate hotel instead. :D

I've priced the packages for two of us through Disney before and the price always comes out more than 2,000. That's why I was concerned in the first place.

I have to think some financial things over before I actually go through with any of this but I think it might actually happen.

I agree with joviacdan. Have you tried the 7 for 5 deal? Ask Pam from Kingdom Konsultants to price one for you. It's a great deal, you may be able to get in a moderate! Have fun!:)

It can be done. We did it 3 years ago. We did everything "a la carte" and it wound up being cheaper (at least at that time). We stayed at All-Stars for 6 nights, got a really cheap flight, and actually had a few days left on previous passes so we didn't have the expense of getting a length of stay pass. (see if you have any old tickets with unused days left! They really do come in handy!) I think we spent right around $1250, before food and souvenirs. That was for 2 of us. I would think you could probably get a really good deal on the 7 for 5 deal, and airline prices are supposed to be really good this summer and fall due to the rising gas price situation.

Have fun planning!

If anyone is staying seven days or more and it's only two people ( and willing to stay off site ) I strongly recomend checking out Extend Stay America and Studio Plus. Great prices, you get a full kitchen and they are nice places. But not close by, they are across the street from that "other" amusement park.

Some may find this surprising, but the packages are NOT a money deal. If you get things separately, you can save a bundle... that's how I did it for the last two trips.

Airfare -- Keep looking on Orbitz every week. New value fares will pop up.

Hotel - Save a ton by going off property. Some places are as low as $50 a night, and are not bad. They will give you shuttle service to the parks too. Want on site... it will cost a bit more, but that's why the value resorts exist. Keep looking on-line for discount codes. Saved about $400 on hotel costs from a friendly post on THIS site.

Park Tickets - The Ultimate park hopper tickets are not a good deal for most. Do you really need to be able to go to pleasure island or the water parks EVERY night. Probably not. Look into buying these separately, but do so on-line through disney.com On-line prices save a bunch over the gate costs. DO NOT -- I repeat -- DO NOT BUY TICKETS ON EBAY. You will be very sad at the gate when they do not work!

:) Hey, uh, do you live in a city where Frontier airlines flies? If so, and I know that this is a stretch for some but try to look at their airfare prices this morning around 1:00 am. I've pruchased plane tickets there round-trip from Denver recently for $119. Then, Simply book everything else separately. All-Star resorts are the best bet and you should pay no more than $79-89/night. Also, I definately agree with the idea of buying an annual pass. It's about the same price as a 7-day hopper pass and you can use it to get a discount on the room you choose. Go to mousesavers.com to find all of the details for this!!!!!!!

If you are willing to stay offsite it is a doddle to go budget. I have just been and the cost was £350 each for two for flight from the UK and two weeks in Kissimmee.

Don't discount staying offsite - all hotel rooms look the same when you are asleep!
