i'm not sure if anyone here has heard of Buckethead (a gutarist who has played with various bands, most recently has joined with the 'newer' version of Guns N Roses...you probably saw him if you watched Mtv's 2002 VMAs recently) but within the last week my sister and i have become fans of Buckethead. we've been downloading some of his stuff when we came across a song titled "A Pirate's Life For Me"....we downloaded it, and sure enough, it's the classic favorite that all us Disney fans know and love! and quite good if i say so myself (the recorded version is MUCH better than the live version) while visiting bucketheadland.com, we found out that he's a fanatic of Disneyland and ultimately wants to be buried there. now, i'm telling ya, just looking at this guy, you would NEVER expect him to care anything about Disneyland....never judge a book by its cover though, i guess! :) but my sister and i also found out that he is supposedly coming out with a 'Disney' album pretty soon...he's already done "Pirates", as i've said, and also "It's a Small World" and something from the Haunted Mansion, i think, i suspect "Grim Grinning Ghosts"....just thought i'd let you all know...it should definately be something to check out!

*ahem* um, while i'm on the subject of downloading music...may i suggest the song "Toast" from the Bob and Tom Show....if you like nonsense humor, this song is definately a classic! :)

Too bad Axl's vocals aren't up to par with Bucketheads guitar playing. :(

There are alot of Disney nuts that you would never expect to be...me for instance. I definately don't look the stereotypical part but I am. :D

Buckethead rocks..so does Robin (the other guitarist..who..played for cirque de solet)...

The only gripe i have with buckethead is his gimic...he's been doing that since the 80s..its a bit worn out now...but he makes up for it with his playing...

Axl....dont get me started. GnR is still one of my favorite bands...so i cant bash a man who was so damn cool....but one comment tho...in all his "down time",..couldnt he have stepped on a scale?

Let me preface this with I did not see the performance on the VMA's -

Can the band really be GnR with Axel as the only original member? I'm really not trying to start a scrap, that question has just been bothering me for awhile...

Its NOT GnR..granted the guys who play with axl are in fact GREAT musicians..its not the same..

..ironically..slash, duff, and izzy are getting back together with the dude from buckcherry to form another GnR type band ;)

Thanks for the 411! I'm sure they are great...I really haven't heard them. I'll make sure to check it out though!

Can't wait to hear what the other guys from GnR put out! :sohappy:

Axl's actually not the only previous GnR member to be in the new version. Dizzy Reed is also a member of the new GnR, he wasnt an original member but he was still part of the good GnR. By the way I agree with you guys, Axl's voice sucked, but the band kicked major butt. They nailed Welcome To The Jungle and Paradise City perfectly. And being a guitarist myself, I can tell you its not as easy as they made it look. Granted Im not nearly good enough to compare myself with them, but I still know that it's hard.

My husband and I are both big fans of GnR. My husband has been following Buckethead for quite some time. I thought his playing was awesome! I miss the old band. My only though is, will this band last with AXL'S huge EGO?

lemme correct my post....buckethead is not coming out with a Disney album in the near future....he just WANTS to. he said he wants to take a lot of time with it so it'll be just right.

NowInc, i agree, Robin is awesome as well!!

as for Buckethead's image, i like it! then again, i was just introduced to it, so i'm not tired of it yet. but it just wouldn't be the same if he changed it, if you ask me. i know he's been using it for a long time, to me, that's just him! nevertheless, he'll sure make for an interesting subject for an art project in my art class! :D

i also agree that Axel's vocals could use some help....is it just me, or did he sound like he was running out of breath during Welcome to the Jungle?

Alicia, on the VMAs, GnR played Welcome to the Jungle, a slower song that i know i've heard before but don't know the title to, and Paradise City (which Buckethead and Robin REALLY showed their talents on the last part of PC) i know you can download the VMA performance from Kazaa if you're able...and i'm sure other mp3 download sites. and i'm sure mtv.com may have some stuff on their performance as well.

The second song was a new one called "Madagascar" :) I am a HUGE GnR fan-have been since the begining. I blew a gasket when Jimmy Fallon announced them. I woke my DH up and blasted the tv! I am sad it isn't the real GnR though. It really isn;t the same but the band sounded awesome! Axl needs to get himself in better shape next time he wants to try to run around the stage in sing, but as a credit to him, he was one of about 4 or 5 performances that night that weren't lipsynced ;)

A weird side note-some people that don't know about Buckethead's schtick (for lack of a better word) thought they were making fun of Slash!

Woo hoo! GnR and Disney fans! My kinda people! ;) :sohappy:

hey, thanks Donna! i really liked their version of it on the VMAs! :)

yeah, you've got a great point there! i was really honestly surprised at how many songs were lipsynced! I was even surpised a bit that Justin Timberlake lipsynced! i'm fairly sure at most of their concerts N Sync doesn't do that so i was kinda surprised that Justin did it. but anyway, some good performances nonetheless! :)

no problem!! Always willing to help a fellow Disney Addict! hehe
I am pretty sure you can download the mp3 on their website (I am clueless about that stuff!) . It was an awesome song-now only if they would get in the studio and finish the album!

I was surprised they all lip-synced too-I remember when Milli Vanilli was around and they were found to be just lip syncing, it was like this shocking thing that happened. If that happened today you would never know they weren't really singing! Also what annoyed me was when the performers would sing or rap live in the background you would hear the music track AND their vocals so it was like a just in case. Sadly it seems the VMA's are getting worse and worse every year... and I used to LOVE watching them! :(

I think the VMA performance was the worst that the "new" GnR has done so far..the best being the rock in rio from last year..and the new years show,,the first one ;)

Axl is really out of shape..and it showwwwws...his belly is almost as large as his ego (gotta love LSD ...Lead Singers Disease)..

Im still waiting for the Vince Neal vs Axl Rose boxing match we were promised in the late 80s....

now, i'm no expert on Milli Vanilli, i'll say that right off. but i thought their thing was was that it wasn't them singing at all. like someone else sung the song, and they just lip synced to it, pretending it was them. i could be wrong, that's just how i took it.

yeah, same here! the mtv awards (vma's and movie awards) used to be a big thing for me...now, i almost forget about them the day they're on. although, i was highly pleased with the movie awards this year since Lord of the Rings won best movie :D

lol! thanks! i hated to get rid of my beloved hobbits, but i thought i needed a bit of a change with the avatar! and since buckethead is my current craze, i thought what the heck... :)

You are right! I just didn;t make myself clear-LOL not surprising hehe. I was trying to say that Milli Vanilli lip-synced to another person's voice and they were found out when the record they lip sync to skipped while they were in concert. And over the course of the next few days they were exposed as frauds. Now today, it probably would just be looked on as a bad night and not be scrutinized as harshly because it seems all the pop bands that dance around a lot lip sync so they won't be so winded to sing!

Oh those hobbits-my DH wants to name everything that needs a name after either a person from Civil War or a character in Lord of The Rings! LOL
