BRUTAL New Commercial!

So today I'm just sitting here watching football like a big, tough, dude that I am. THEN I get TOTALLY sucker punched by this new ad that Disney has apparently just released. I was just curious if anyone else had seen it and what they thought about it. I'm definitely dreading the day when the kids think they're "too cool" or "too big" for Disneyworld but we go all the time and maybe they won't go through that phase but to all you parents who have maybe dealt with that phase is it as bad as it looks and do you ever wish you could just freeze time with your kids there? This commercial will really make you wish you could!

My daughter just moved out this fall for college. So, yea, this commercial can safely be categorized as brutal for me.

...but we did go a lot while she was little so win!

It can be brutal no matter how many years have passed if you still have a memory it flashes you back to a different time. I have posted the following picture many times. It is of me and my two daughters having lunch in MK. The older one on the left is now 45 and the little one on the right is 43. In a week I am going to be attending her graduation from East Carolina University with her online MBA. 4.0 GPA. Done while working full time, jointly taking care of the household and paying close attention to her teenage son, who is graduating from HS in June. In spite of all that grown up accomplishment, I see her at that age in my mind often. The hardest part of being a parent is balancing the parent/child relationship when they become adults. Done right it is also very memorable and rewarding. I am so proud of both of my, girls, but, they allow me to still call them baby girl (1 and 2, respectively). :) Based on age, not degree of affection.

I must be an ice queen...:p

My son turned 18 in October, so I had been spending a lot of time looking at photos and wondering how my sweet little boy turned into a young man so quickly. We were fortunate enough that we went annually as a family. We had a run of 3 good years where we were in the "sweet spot" with my son. We have lots of photos and happy memories that we still bring up, much to my son's consternation. Our last trip as a family was 2016. He was 14 and miserable the whole time. He dislikes Disney as a company (Don't ask. lol), so I don't know if he'll ever come back around for trips with us. If he ever wants to join us again, he's welcome. But I am glad we had those three golden years as a family. :)

My wife and I have 5 children, ranging in ages from 12 down to 5. Reading all the thoughts from those of you with grown children has made us decide we need to take them all back to Disney in 2020. Thanks, guys! ;)

LOL Tom, my grown children still love WDW. Our trips are just as magical but different. every year when the boys were little we would take a picture in front of Kermit, unfortunately their dad lost his battle with cancer. last year they still wanted to take their picture in front of Kermit.

I don't know if this makes me sad or happy. A little bit of both it seems.

Life is a sum of experiences, and it looks like you are making some spiritual level memories. Life win!

I am sorry to hear that. In my experience being 14 and miserable at WDW is an exception. But, as he enters his 20's, 30's, and up, at some point he will appreciate what sacrifices you made for him and those feeling will supersede the "misery" of the experience. My 18 year old has made it really clear that she is up for WDW anytime classes are not in session. ...and even then maybe. ...for the rest of her life. :p

That is one of the true magics of WDW, the ability to time travel with your family regardless of their age, to experience those old wonderful feelings once again.

Here is my little time travel photo.... I actually do remember the first photo when I was just a kid. That's my sis (obviously?) next to me.
