Broken light bulb watch

Freedom of speech around here is what the moderators and owner says it is.....

Which is what? You said freedom of speech didn't apply at all (as did Jakeman). If that were the case, it wouldn't exist and no opinions would be allowed at all. From what i can tell, we are perfectly free to talk about whatever we like as long as we follow the rules (which i have read and have been doing). It's a common practice here to say what we want within the rules and not be modded. So there's definitely SOME freedom of speech.

I guess it stands to say- i never dwell on maintenance while i'm at the parks. It's there in the back of my mind, but i have better things to do while i'm there. My point was basically- where do you draw the line when it comes to maintenance? And how far would they take it if allowed? When the time comes where i'd draw the line, i'd stop going. I'll still complain about it when there's something legit to complain about though. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm sorry if i offended anyone. I guess i made my posts sound more serious than i intended. My points stand, though feel free to be "amused" by them all you like. Whatever floats your boat.

I guess it would surprise some people that i like a fair few things more than i used to. I have my issues, but i also have my positives. I'm not entirely hateful of the company either. Just the individuals who happen to be behind the lax in management. I'm sorry i never made that clear.

Actually, I said Freedom of Speech (as in the enumerated civil liberty) wasn't applicable here. But again, however it's written, whether you appreciate the fact or not, what is written here and deemed acceptable is governed by the rules of this forum, and enforced by the moderators present. Just food for thought....

I understand. I will say however that by that definition, there's no such thing as freedom of speech. Even in the US and other countries that claim to have it, they still sometimes use their power to stop certain things from being said. I'm PROBABLY not going to get carted off and waterboarded for what i've said here, so i dunno what the problem is. Don't think i've broken any rules worthy of that. But i digress, i've gotten offtopic lol!

I'll continue to do what i've always done- post what i like within the rules. If people don't like it, you're free to block or report it, or be amused by it.

I am laughing so hard at the passion behind the light bulbs... We are up to the 7th page of comments!!! This is great...

Myself personally, If I see an occasional light bulb out, how do we know it just didn't happen? But, if many are out in the same area or sign then give me a ladder, I will change them myself... It just looks nicer is all...

I had an uncle that is retired now, but he was on that light bulb changing crew... It was great going down there.. they would take us behind the scene's and we would see some cool stuff... But they worked in teams of 3 or 4 and they spot-checked every single building inside and out for broken bulbs.. Their cart of bulbs was amazing... So many shapes and sizes.. ahhh the 90's.. the good 'ol days...

Call me a perfectionist, say I have unreasonable expectations, but I notice. I don't look for it. I want to bask in the Disney magic when I'm there, but there are some things I notice. I'm just a detail oriented individual. I notice when the ride track/system squeaks and creaks so loudly that it distracts me or drowns out the ride audio. I notice when the audio cuts out or has distortion. I could go on, but you get the idea. Yes, we still go, but the second rate shortcuts and lower standards of excellence are a real buzz-kill sometimes.

As you should be, because we were taught that Disney Productions are all about the details and that they put time, effort, and thought into those details that most companies wouldn't. But I guess some people have forgot that.

I can't tell if you're for the light bulbs or against the light bulbs.... :lookaroun

Another example of cost cutting and where it effects the actual rides in this case. Thanks to Kevin Yee for writing this, it would be great if Garcia also did a similar article in the Sentinel.

Declining by degrees, it starts small then turns into a mountain ... in this case literally. Still think were making too much out of broken lightbulbs and chipped paint?

Thanks again Kevin. Keep it up. :)

I actually do recall riding Splash Mountain and noticing a number of broken AA. It didn't even dawn on me that just a few months prior it had a major refurb as it does every year.

So, maybe we find a reliable source to complain, and mass quantity yell at Disney that we do notice these things? In addition that it is decreasing the quality of our visits?

But if you complain, they might raise prices even more and blame it on maintenance being so expensive.:p

I just want to clear something up- I don't post pictures of bad maintenance to be a negative Nellie or because I hate WDW. I love Disney World, and I call attention to its fixable flaws because we all know that Disney can do better. After all, there's nothing wrong with fixing lightbulbs. However, I'm a firm believer in that if you don't call attention to a wrong, it won't be righted (or it will take a very long to be righted). Because of this, I don't believe there's any problem in people posting pictures of bad maintenance, because the people who care enough to do so really love the parks.
