I'm from the US and have a few friends in England. Just a few questions.

One. Do you need any kind of fancy postage other than a thirty seven cent US stamp to send something there?

Two. How does the postal/geographic regions work there? For instance, I have a friend that lives in Fulham. That's part of London, to my konwledge, but London's a city, not a "state"....hopefully someone gets my point. Does anyone happen to know anything about Fulham either?

Three. Phone calls. I know you need to put in a 44 before dialing a UK number from a different country. Do US citizens need to dial 1 before the 44?

Yes. Go to a US post office and ask...they will tell you the cost, and sell you the correct stamps.

Perhaps you could find someone willing to go to the PO (or perhaps a mail center, but I'm not sure they carry the right stamps) for you. You can't use domestic stamps for international mail; you must purchase "fancy" stamps. :)

Dial 01-1-44 then your number, but drop the first 0 off - so if you're calling a Fulham number it would be 01-1-44-20XXXXXX, and not 01-1-44-020XXXXX.

Fulham is in South West London - small "town-like" area of the city. London is a city but broken into smaller areas known as boroughs - Fulham is a borough of London, mainly upmarket residential, but borders on Chelsea which is a wicked shopping area. Fulham has a half-decent soccer team and.............well that's about it really, oh except you can never park your car there on a Saturday.

Wow. Thanks for that.

"See, the US is stupid. We designed our cars so that you open the door onto oncoming traffic, away from the curb. Loook at the British. They put the driver on the other side of the car...but then they got stupid and moved the curb to the other side of the street"

:D Well...you may want to try visiting the US Postal website, www.usps.gov and see what they have there for international postage rates, then just put on as many stamps as needed to cover the rate.

Hey, I'm British as well (English to be precise)

Answers :
1) As long as you pay the correct price normal postage stamps will surfice
2) There are no states in Britain (other than a state of unreadiness for any major incident  ) A first class stamp (usually next day delivery) will allow letters to be sent from one destination to another within the United Kingdom.
3) Not a clue
