Bringing your own food to the food court!!

I'm likely wasting my time, but I'll disagree with this. A CS restaurant is not a food court, it's a restaurant. The seating is for paying customers first. Someone who has just bought their lunch at the counter should have priority over people who have brought picnic meals. Would you bring Publix sandwiches into a McDonald's? This is why they have started stationing CMs at the seating area entrances during the busier meal times. If you want to bring your own food, eat at off times, or find a bench or a low wall outside for your picnic. I absolutely hate seeing people wandering around with rapidly cooling hot meals on their trays while others are sitting at tables chowing down on their homemade PB&Js.
To be fair, A McDonalds setup is vastly different from picnic table areas within WDW. Everyone in WDW has to eat throughout the day, whether they are physically buying in the park or not. The biggest reason they have started stationing the CM's is because people don't know how to find the shortest line and when they are organizing where people sit, they are also able to get the tables clean. I'm sure somewhat is to "filter" out those that aren't purchasing. I see the validity of both sides, I guess at the end of the day I just don't really care where people find a place to sit. I usually like to find the quieter places outside and away from the main traffic to sit anyway.

But, if you are paying to stay at the resort, you are a paying customer... That is an amenity that is technically for all paying resort guest. If you could only use it if you bought something in the food court, then they should keep it back before you get to the registers.
No sorry, people that buy food in the food court should not have to wait to heat their toast, bagel whatever because people who bring food from home l are hogging all the appliances and tables, the fact you are staying at the hotel does not mean you are a food court customer. I should not have to wait or not have table because someone is cheap.

I remember when we could barely afford a 4 day ticket, stayed at a $30 a night mess on 192 (whichever popped up cheapest on Priceline) stopped at McDonald's on the way in for breakfast, and went to Cici's pizza buffet for $5.99 at night (with a buy 1 buffet, get one free coupon from the hotel lobby.)

If I had kids, I may have had to be more creative.

I have empathy for folks who truly can't afford it. Not so much for people who think they are entitled and take advantage of a situation.
With all due respect, you shouldn't be there if this is the deal...

That's nonsense. Everyone makes the experience what they make it and what they can afford at the time. At least I wasn't stealing condiments from food courts.

And if I hadn't done it on the cheap 18 years ago, I may not have ever gotten to dine at Victoria & Albert's two weeks ago.

Get. Over. Yourself.

This is how we ended up with huge CC debt in this country.. People buying houses they couldn't afford. I could go on and on..

Grow up.... Oh and Get. OVER. YOUSELF.

So now you're just making stuff up.

Where did I say anything about cc debt or buying a house?

Oh, and great parroting on that last line. Try spelling it correctly next time.

Keep trying.

Sorry, but it's the food court... it's where people go to eat. Drink refill people... out to the hall unless you bought something at the register today!! No, sorry, not how it works. The amenities are there for everyone.

I might feel differently if locals were wandering in off the street to grab a pocket-full of condiments, or use the microwave to heat up their food and take it home. In this case, however, the toasters and microwaves are an advertised amenity of staying on-property, and those using them (or grabbing some ketchup, or making use of a table and chairs in a dining area) are paying hundreds upon hundreds (and in some cases thousands) to be there. Unless or until Disney institutes a policy reserving tables and chairs for food-buyers only, I don't begrudge them their enjoyment of the facilities or dining areas for a moment.

WTH all due respect - could you be any more elitist? AFAIK, Disney doesn't require a means test in order to buy tickets and enter the parks. There is no mandate requiring guests to purchase food on site. In fact their FAQs state that food CAN be brought into the parks. There are many reasons why people do it. Babies need baby food. Toddlers want their favorite snacks. Some people are on special diets. Some people are local, and just want a quick bagged lunch from home. And yes, some people can only afford the trip if they bring their own food. So they DONT run up CC debt ( let's puncture that balloon right now). If that s how they want to budget their trip, that is their business.

I'm all for people bringing their own food if that is their choice/need. I just dont want them to hog restaurant tables needed by paying customers. Disney does provide other seating areas (usually outside). The resort food courts are,IMO, an exception. They are an amenity provided for the use of all of their resort guests.

People are so weird.

The internet has ruined Walt Disney World.

Ok, ok, the Internet is also helpful for planning WDW trips.. but this kind of stupid stuff is a huge negative.

I bring cereal, Zone bars, Horizon milk single packs, other various snacks, and purchase a case of water.. so I'm not complaining about bringing your own food.
But if you're trying to make a meal out of condiments, or using a resort quick service restaurant as your personal kitchen, then that's just ridiculously absurd.

I agree. I see it as an amenity of the hotel, in which the food court exists. We were staying in POR in May and there was one morning where there was no seating in the main food court area... It honestly never crossed my mind that people shouldn't sit there, and honestly I didn't even look to see if they had food or not. Its a first come first sit type deal, whereas they found that table before me. It didnt effect me in the slightest, nor did it ruin my day. We went and found a seat in the lounge, or we would have sat and ate outside on a bench if there was NOWHERE to sit. Just to add, we did have the dining plan, so many meals were had in that very food court that trip. So in that case, does "paying customers should be the only ones allowed to use toasters and microwaves" only apply to that day at that time?

Not everyone else can afford it. Some people can just barely save enough for the hotel and tickets. I remember being a kid and my family found stuff to make ends meet.

This thread bothers me because I have empathy for even just one family that is trying to give their kids a special experience the only way they can afford it and they may be shamed for using a microwave, table and chairs at a theme park or a packet of butter.

I actually don't see any problem with using the resort microwave. A paying guest has a right to any of the amenities.

On the other hand it makes me livid when people make salads at pecos bills. But its an amenity

You can rent mirowaves from Disney to have in your room. There is no reson to go to the food court to use the microwaves and inconvience other people who are purchasing food.
But what if I purchased the food from the somewhere on property and need to toast it or have a snack I purchased at a park that I want to heat up? Are you really all that inconvienced by the rare guest heating up their food? Is it really that big of a problem for you? When was the last time you had to wait behind a line of 10 people wanting to heat up their food that they brought in?

I can agree with you many people have special needs when it comes to food and that may be why Disney rents microwaves for in room use. On our last visit (we drove) we brought a small microwave did not seem to be a problem.

https://disneyparksmomspanel.disney...icrowave-port-orleans-moderate-resort-128661/I always thought that they did not allow microwaves in your room at WDW. I have never heard of them renting them, that is why they have them at all the resorts at the food court area. The only place that you can have a microwave are the villas.

There was a time (almost four years long) when I traveled constantly by car. I brought a microwave in my truck for when I'd get a hotel room without one.

Never happened to be a Disney hotel, though. Lol.

I stand corrected at one time you could request a microwave on a first come first serve basis I'm not sure if that is still available. The case of bringing your own I'm not sure if WDW frowns on it. Other WDW forums I have looked at people have said CM said no problem when asked. about bringing one. Others say you are not supposed to. We brought a small one in May and no one said anything. If any one has more specific info please post.

I stayed at POR last month. One morning I went out for coffee. The room next to mine had a microwave placed outside of it. I went back into my room to see if I had one because I couldn't remember seeing one. Hmmm found I didn't. That would explain it.
