Bringing Infant to Disneyland?

We will have a new addition to our family this winter with our first child and are super excited.

Would it be irresponsible as a parent to take an infant to the park just for a small amount of time (likely just 1 hour with some castle photos and walking around)? Or would it be recommended to wait till they are older?

Also how soon is too soon? (I believe there are a round of vaccinations they have to get as new borns).

Our pass will run out when they are 2 months, not sure if this is too young and as fun as taking some photos sounds don't want to do anything dangerous.

For any parents out there what are your thoughts?

Irresponsible, no

But it’s not gonna be much like a “park day” you’re familiar with. Just babysitting with better scenery

And it really depends on temperament. If baby is calm/a sleeper…it’s great

If not…may not be “magical memories”

Greatly appreciate the input! Again we were thinking maybe an hour or so before leaving and not a full day so hopefully that can be manageable but all your input is very good to keep in mind!

Congratulations! It's not irresponsible. At that age, it's just another thing to carry around the park. The noise would probably disturb nap time though. Welcome to child swap.

I once took my two year old son to the log ride at Knotts. He sat in the front seat and I forgot to hang on to him on the drop. I caught him as he slide forward.

I had them there at 3 and 4 months…granted that was Orlando and once it was a 100 and the second it was 55 and felt like Hoth…

It’s a downshift if you’re “park people”…not looking at relaxing sit down meals or ride swapping

Fair warning

Congrats!!

I took my son at 4 or 5 months. I think my sisters took my nephew at one month. It’s fine and they re pretty easy at that age. But why just one hour? They have the nursery by the Corn Dog cart that you can utilize.

Cause a baby is more important than pounding a park you’ve been to 100 times?

It really depends on the kid. And I’d advice not to push it

Haha of course. I’m just saying if you have already dealt with the hassle of getting there and are willing to deal with the “risks” of building your babies immune system early then not sure what the rush is to get out of there? You have quiet places you can go. You have a nursery. I’m sure the baby will be tucked away sleeping for the most part in its cozy $1000 dollar stroller.

Thank you! Were really happy to be parents soon!

LOL at the Knotts story! How does child swap work?

Our other concern besides any illnesses was wearing them out by overdoing things. Also is 2 months OK to even bring them in your opinion or is that way too soon?

Thanks for the tips, I didn't know about the nursery! As for the 1000 dollar stroller, we have a basic 60 dollar stroller and an expensive one.

I've read some horror stories of people having their nice stroller stolen so was thinking of just using the cheaper one. What are your thoughts?

Adorable!
The earliest Disneyland picture I could find of him was about 18 months. His sister first Disneyland trip was at 4 months.

A basic cheap 60 dollar stroller that can easily fold up is best especially for the tram. You want to fold it up quick and sit anywhere on the tram. I hate having to wait for the SUV strollers to fold up and somehow get on the tram. The stroller should be cheap enough that you don't care if it goes missing. I had that happen to two strollers at Disneyland. They where cheap so we didn't care. We had one cheap stroller fall apart completely on our last day at WDW. We just threw it in the trash. Just put everything (formula, diapers, snacks, jammies) in a backpack. Travel lite. Don't leave anything in the stroller.

Ask the front cast member at a ride for child swap. They will tell you what to do. Basically one rides, then the other rides separately. Most things you won't need it.

There is a nursery with toddler size potties and extra diapers and supplies.

My daughter was always kicking her shoes off in the stroller. I would report them missing. Amazing Disneyland mailed the missing shoe back. This happen a number of times and I always got the shoe back.

All three kids loved it. The 4 month old seemed to enjoy it. Her big brother introduced her to Mickey. When they were older we would always do the character meet and greets. We have a large collection.

One time the oldest was coloring at Big Thunder Ranch and Pluto tried to get his attention since no one was around. He would have none of that and keep coloring. Pluto sat down and colored too. Those little moments is what makes Disneyland great.

People take young children to Disney parks all the time.

It's obviously more of a hassle than a "normal" visit. It just comes down to personal views - is getting the photo of the baby with Mickey or in front of the castle worth it?

As far as physical health and vaccines and what not, that's probably a question for a doctor. One thing to be aware of is that people on vacation will often power through if they have a cold, flu, covid, etc. There will be sick people.

I dont think its too soon as long as you go on a day that isnt too hot or too cold. I dont see any reason you cant have a pleasant 4-6 hour trip or longer. Obviously you ll be moving slow and wont do a ton of rides but i doubt thats a concern for you. Maybe get the baby on Small World. Go have a nice sit down meal when the baby is sleeping.

No problem! My wife would bring our kids there to feed or change them all the time when they were little.

We’ve never had our expensive stroller stolen or any souvenirs we store in it. Obviously hide the stuff best we can when we re away from the stroller.
