bringing food...?

I was just wondering if anyone has brought non-pershible food with them. I know you cannot take it on in your carryon, but i was thinking of checking a small bag with breakfast bars, oranges and other snacks for while we are there. My problem is i am hypoglycimac (sp?) and i need to each small things throughout the day which can get very expensive. I was then going to use the empty bag to bring home souvineers. Has anyone ever done this?

On our trip in January we took a large box of granola bars, breakfast bars, a box of easy mac, pop tarts, and about twenty single serving cereal boxes. I figure it saved us in the neighborhood of $300 on our trip.

We drive down and always bring snacks for the drive and for the parks. Just make sure that if you go on any rides such as Dinosaur that you hold on good to your pack or what ever. We rode and my pack with all our snacks and water went slidding right off the ride. We were able to have the CM's bring my pack to Guest Services when the park closed, so nothing was lost just delayed. I still remember telling the family right berfore we rode that we should take a break and eat a snack right after we get off the ride. I was so looking forward to that bannana!

If you like your coffee with the flavored coffee creamer I recommend picking up a box of them and stashing them in your checked luggage before heading to WDW. I'm referring to the little cups with the pull back foil tops. These little guys don't need refrigeration. You can buy a box of 24 at Wal-mart for under $3. For me, this was perfect because I must have my coffee in the morning and I only like it with International Delight French Vanilla! I'd throw a few in my bag on the way to the food court in the morning, grab my coffee and be off to the parks--PERFECT!

During our last trip my mom and I sent a huge box down to the resort before we left for around $18 UPS Ground. We were told by the resort to have our name and arrival date on the package on at least 4 sides (we did all 6) and when we got to Disney it was delivered with our luggage. We took cereal, oatmeal, cookies, and all sorts of snacks. Never had any trouble going through Disney secutiry either (one officer said "Oh goody sweets!").

It is cheaper to buy milk from the stores rather than the food court.

You can take whatever foods and drinks you want into the parks in any quantities, with the following exceptions:
  • no alcohol
  • no glass containers, except for baby food jars
  • no hard-sided coolers; soft-sided coolers need to be no larger than what would theoretically fit into a rental locker

If you bring food into the parks, you are not getting away with anything. Security sees it all every day when they do bag checks. Bring dinner for 12 if you like, as long as you don't break rules stated above.

We also put stuff in our checked bags like boxes of Pop Tarts and granola bars. In my carry on I pack fruit snacks and home made trail mix. I bring that into the parks with me as well. We have never had a problem with bringing the food.
