" this is my fight song , " - rachel platten . well folks its thats time again.. to gear up for Nashville .. what better way to do that than with a half marathon two weeks before ,... you might think im crazy.. , well my mom sure does... , but and after this one the thought had crossed my mind... but you can only get better right .. bc you only one small boat on the ocean. ,,
it turned out to be a wonderful day for a sunday run of 13.1, it was kinda chill at the start .. but it burned off and it was amazing... , and they always say the cooler weather makes running better.. so going in to this my goal was to go Under 2 , bc every half i have ran was missing the under 2 my a few seconds.. and yesterday just felt good , bc i have been training my butt off this year.. more than any other bc i was deternmined to break two hours this year in all my halfs.. so lets do this.. --
did i mention , olymipan denna kastor was there ... , but any way.. I started out running with a friend and the 150 pace group .. , I learned running with a pacer helps alot... , i found that out in feb. , but any who
about mile one, i felt good , out and the loop around and back out on the road i was feeling great .. , so good , I almost ran over the pacer.. , adreline i guess... , but we got to about mile 3 and i switched over behind the friend i was running with and his friend ... so we kinda left the pace group and made our way.. ,
we couldnt belive that we were going a little over the pace we had set.. he was asking me my goals ... and i told him , and hes like well youll beat today for sure... so we carried on .. we got to about mile 5 , my legs where shot... , I slowed down .. , bc i had ran all the way and I havent done that in a whil in a big race. ) . and i lost them comming up on mile 6 but luckly , i fell back enough and noticed the 1:50 pacer and what was left of his group coming up behind me so i fell in with them.. what a blesing.. so we all got to talking about last years and such .. keeping good pace.. ( mind you there were like 15 of us that started out with him , ) and when i caught back up with them at mile 6-10 there was only 2 with him including me.... but he made it fun.. and about mile 10 is where i started to spudder... , so I again lost him .. keep him in my sights until my legs thought otherwise. I made it to mile 11 which was a double helix and the fun volenteer saif hi welcome , youve been running for 72 mins.. i smiled and though in my head i can do this.. so onward and up word i went... by this time i was getting mad at my self .. not a bad way but kind fun to make me go faster... and it helped but mile hit mile 12.. 3 miles to go.. that mile wow ! .. my legs where shot and i wanted to quit.... and at this point i didnt care about my Pr , but I really did.. so i started walking to cool my legs off... and i hear come on you got this ... , then i hear come on hero you got this.. ( i was wearing my st. jude training shirt.. ) i got alot of complients on this .. as i rounded the corner , made it to mile 13 just .1 togo... so i dug in .... and got around to almost the end .. and i hear come oyu got this ... dig in and lets go.. it was 2 pacers from the 155 pace group ... , its these moment when you want to just say stop Im tired quit yelling at me ... im done i dont care.. but they wrre so entergetic... it was funny.. but and they are like if you feel like you got enough gas , just go for it , but sadly my legs counldnt , but up the last hill round the corner to finsih line.. , I finsihed behind them ..at 1:54:57. so its feels good to get the 2 hour monkey off my back.. got high fives from all of them it was so aweosme... ,
I fogt to mention about mile 10 i ran by a girl who i have been following on fb who is a st . jude hero like me this year at cmm .. she goes ... running for st . jude i like it.. i look up and i said holly.. shes like yup ... and gave me a high five... and i think fore me that helped my drive as well... so its awesome how many people you meet on the race course.. and brings you close in the running community!
