On April 19th, 2026 during a routine maintenance inspection a fire broke out in the attic where it spread to the rest of the ride, burning many of the animatronics and sets inside of the ride. The fire was thankfully kept inside of the building and did not spread to any more of the surrounding area and no people were hurt but unfortunately Disney has said that the ride is beyond repair as the entire ride scenes and most of the vehicles were severely damaged. Rumors go around that Disney will not try to rebuild the ride and will demolish the building and replace it with an IP ride, this rumor has seen much backlash from Haunted Mansion fans and they are begging Disney to rebuild the ride. We might figure out what will happen in the next D23 next year and then we will find out if Haunted Mansion will return to haunt guests or will the mansion itself be the next 1000 ghost.

On August 11th, 2027 Disney has announced on what they decided to do with the burnt down Haunted Mansion and it was a surprise to be sure. Disney has told us that they don’t intend to rebuild the original ride but they also aren’t replacing it with an IP but they are bringing a whole new original version of the Haunted Mansion. Disney Imagineering has put out concept art that shows that this version of the Haunted Mansion would be a water dark ride similar to Pirates of the Caribbean. The story has not been released yet but people think that it will be a whole new story and will include a ghost finding team, we will give more news when more information is released.
