Breakfast

My wife and I enjoy Disney World and go every year. As we have let's say matured in years we don't need to have a character meal. But we do rise early and enjoy a good breakfast. What are our park and resort options (we don't have a car) for a sit down non-character breakfast?

Is the mod resort Coronado? At least then you'll have some sit down breakfast options on site.

The Rainforest Cafe by the AK entrance has breakfast. Granted, Rainforest Cafes aren't exclusively Disney, but if you were going to AK, wanted a sit down breakfast but didn't want a character meal, that might be your best bet. Unless you go over to AKL first and have breakfast at Boma.

When you go to MK, the Wave at Contemporary is indeed very good. @JIMINYCR is right in that they have a buffet, but it's an option, they have regular menu options as well for cooked to order fare. Kona Cafe at Poly is IMO a better option than Grand Floridian Cafe at GF, but your mileage may vary.

On a day you're going to Hollywood Studios, a good option might be the buffet at the Dolphin, if it's available (it's apparently a seasonal offering), or menu offerings at the Swan. Neither restaurant will be on the Dining Plan, but they will take AAA discounts as well as Tables in Wonderland. Captains Grille in Yacht Club, too. Doubt there will be many kids there, they'll all be over at the character breakfast at Beach Club.

Don't know if I'd recommend the haul to Whispering Canyon Cafe for breakfast if you're not staying there. It's fun, but geared for boisterous families, no characters, but continuously loud.

And I'm obsessed with the breakfast pizza at Wolfgang Puck Express, if there's a day you start at Disney Springs. You may have gone before but if you haven't, it's half-a-sit-down meal - you order at the front, you get your own fountain drinks or make your own coffee/tea, but then they bring the food to you and will refresh drinks and check on you. If you're on the dining plan, it counts as a counter service meal, not a table service.

A couple that I have enjoyed over the years: Boma, Kona Cafe, Grand Floridian Cafe and a nice surprise on my last trip was breakfast at Trattoria al Forno. I think that is my new "must do" breakfast place.

If you just want a QS place, Sunshine Seasons is very good. And Starring Rolls is nice for a coffee and cinnamon bun to start the day.

I like to eat in the parks, and you can get a rez before the park actually opens. Tusker House in DAK has a great breakfast buffet. It is a character buffet, but I just kinda ignore them and enjoy the food. And once you're done you're perfectly positioned to hit the Safaris right at park open ahead of the front gate crowd.

TS at resorts
  • Boma (AKL)-amazing buffet with so many choices. Coffee and POG juice (pineapple orange guava) both included
  • The Wave (Contemporary)-simple buffet or a la carte menu convenient for a MK day
  • Kona Café (Poly)-TONGA TOAST! And if you're a coffee lover get the Kona press!
We are trying Trattoria al forno (Boardwalk) this trip.

QS in Epcot
  • Les Halles (France)-great to have a quiet breakfast in WS and see Canada, UK, and France nearly empty!
  • Sunshine Seasons (The Land)-good if you want a quick breakfast between rides in FW

Another vote for The Wave. It's so nice to be able to choose between the buffet or an entree off the regular menu. This works especially well if your dining party is split between those who enjoy buffet style, all you care to eat, and those who prefer not to serve themselves or want something special. Captain's Grille at Yacht Club also does a buffet in addition to regular menu entrees, so that could be a good choice on an Epcot or Hollywood Studios day since both are in walking distance (or a boat ride if you prefer). I think the food is slightly better at The Wave while the atmosphere at Captain's Grille is better, only because The Wave has no windows and feels a bit enclosed. Both have good service.
