Breakfast before parks open

I know they do let people with early breakfast reservations into the park before the park opens. My question is, if you finish your food before the park opens, can you basically go to the roped off area heading for the attraction you want to see first or do you have to leave the park?

We always do the DDP, but if you pay for it, Norway's is apparently about $40 for adults and $24 for children, Crystal Palace is $29 for adults and $16 for children.

 $29 for breakfast?! Yeesh. I know WDW prices are high, as with all theme parks, but I don't know if I can stomach a $29 dollar breakfast when Publix has cheap, delicious fresh food not that far away. :D

We just did the Crystal Palace for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago. Our reservations were for 8:05am. I was very excited to get there early to get some really good pics. To my disappointment they were letting so many people in who did not have ADR and they would just walk up to the ropes near tomorrow land and Adventure land and wait. We took some pics on Main Street but there were tons of people around. The lady just asked if we had ADR and I said yes, she never asked for a name or reservation number.

The $40 for breakfast at Norway was the one a bit more shocking for me, but as I've said we use the DDP, and even though there are many here that don't really care for it, I think it really comes in handy. Because you've paid up in advance, the only pain you'll feel when the check comes is 20% or so tip you should be leaving.

As Nick_A said, you're paying for the characters as much as the food, but I'd call the food you get really good, plus it's an all you can eat buffet, so you can sample a good bit of it, and really take your time a bit so you leave the place when the parks open.
