I am about to drop crazy money doing something crazy. And there are only 1 or 2 people here at WDWMAGIC that wouldn't think I had lost my mind. But it's worth it to me. No more explanation necessary.
Is this what I think it is? If so, get in the groove and let the good times roll. If not, the same still applies.

If you have kids, I would milk the kid's menu for all it's worth. I mean crepes, French toast, steel cut oatmeal and a basic scrambled eggs and bacon meal for kids vs. eggs Florentine, egg white sandwich, veggie quiche, cured meats and cheese (yum!) for adults. Okay, I could probably go with the open face bacon and egg sandwich or the croissant donuts. But I think kids have the better menu. Be honest parents. How often do kids eat what you put on the table for them? Order their meals and share their plates.

I fail to grasp why so many are angry and/or shocked over this? Have you never eaten at WDW? Have you never had a meal at a wildly popular WDW restaurant? They fleece the crap out of you because they know the majority are willing to pay for the "experience." It's kind of silly that people would even rant over this. It's hardly out of left field and from a business side of things, it would be asinine to make this a more budget friendly experience like a value food court or even an offsite breakfast spot. If anything, the price is more reasonable that many were anticipating. It hasn't exactly been easy for patrons to get into BOG for a meal. They probably could have charged CRT prices and still had people upset because they couldn't get an ADR.

As for the menu...they had me at poached egg and brie! :hungry:

Good food costs money. Id hope everything was locally sourced/organic, if that was the case in this instance i for one would be fine with it. For example I can go out and drink a budweiser (6pk for what like 6-7$) or I can go out and drink something that tastes good, from good sources and pay more for it (11-12$). For me personally i'd rather put the better food/ingredients in my body.

Of course theyll upcharge you for experience but its not like you cant eat something terrible for you instead. Freedom of choice is key here, if you dont like the price voting with your money (not going) is the best thing you can do.

On the other hand they do have a monopoly and can really charge whatever they feel...

but isn't it an additional charge if you ask for something more? not a big eater but just curious about how this works....

When we did the breakfast at Sci-Fi there was no additional charge. They brought out one basket of pastries, but our family only cared for 3 of them and there were 5 of us, so they brought us more of the same. The meal was more about the character interactions and theme for the Star Wars weekend, although the food was excellent...it was not like the typical hearty breakfast...think light and petite, but delicious. I would say it was like the breakfast at Cinderella's they will bring you more of anything you fancy, think of it as 'all you care to eat' vs. an all you can eat buffet.

If people calculate the price they would have spent on a quick service breakfast at any other location - $10-$15 entree, $3 drink, $5-7 for pastries, the price is actually spot on. Plus you get early access to the park to dine in the Beast's Castle. If you are the type of person that just eats a cinnamon roll and drinks a free glass of water, then yes, it would be out of your price range.

This was on another thread on the subject but this is the mentality I have when viewing the prices. It truly isn't that far-fetched for Disney. It's a great value for those on the DDP and it's cheaper than some of the table-service breakfast places.

Thanks Dawrful. We will be going to CRT as well for lunch and my son (2) will be eating off my plate and is somewhat a picky eater. It's great to know that they will bring me an extra item if I ask for it.

Well done....what I have yet to hear is the price is INELASTIC (as price increases, quantity demanded does not decrease proportionally). My guess is they could be charging a lot more than $20.00 before the QUANTITY demanded dropped at a higher % than price increased. Disney's "BoG Demand Curve" is so Inelastic the price could be north of $35.00 before the ressies would be "easy" to grab (speculating here).

I grabbed a couple of ressies, 1 after the Spring Break rush in April, another in Early May.
