Brazilian Tour Groups

I was at the MK, standing in the FP viewing area for the parade, on a warm May Day. I felt sorry for the poor CM, who repeatedly told a group of 6-7 cheerleaders to (1) stop doing stunts, (2) stop cheering so loud and (3) to get out of the roped off viewing area. She repeatedly warned them...and told them if they didn't stop, they'd be removed from the park and she'd make sure that they'd be kicked out of the competition. One of the guys even got a little hostile. Several of the dads waiting in the viewing area looked like they were ready to defend the CM, if it got to that. And the CM was no shrinking violet. So after the third warning, which they ignored, security showed up and marched them out of the park. We all applauded the CM....

How stupid can these kids be? The competitions are held on cushioned surfaces. Why would anyone want to do flips and tosses on concrete? At one home football game, we all witnessed a cheerleader get tossed in the air and unfortunately the guy supposed to catch her missed. Thankfully, all she broke was her arm...and she landed on turf.

Yea they do that all the time and the most concerning thing is what if they landed on someone else or even worse a child, injuring them? If one of them fell and landed on my kid I wouldn't be too happy

I cannot stand the chanting, but I almost got knocked down by a couple of members of these groups while approaching the seats at Muppets. Two or three girls were running, and I mean full out running to get the seats they wanted with other members of the group (like the theater is ever full enough that you have to do this) and almost plowed me over. Never apologized, nothing.

Hell, that happens in Walmart, Target and your local Grocery Store. Nothing new about human behavior.

..... Also, a question for those who go frequently to the parks: how often are these groups present?

The South American tour groups (they aren't all Brazillian) are usually at WDW in January and July.

The Cheerleaders are there several different weeks during the year. Different competitions will have a different makeup of competitors. They're generally all loud and disruptive both in the parks and at their resorts. But some are worse than others.

I'm not sure that one group is worse than the other, except that the SATGs travel in such large packs that their behavior has much more impact on the other guests.

I do understand that it's a cultural thing, but when I travel to different countries, I learn what is considered rude and not rude. For example, If I were to go to Japan, I would know that it is considered extremely rude to talk on your cell phone on any public transport. I know it's off topic but it's the same thing. That wouldn't be considered rude here, but it is there. I know that and would refrain from doing anything considered rude in their culture.

I don't live in Japan, but I HATE listening to people talking endlessly on their cell phones on buses and subways.

It's one thing to call and say "I'm on my way" and another to spend 20+ minutes loudly yakking about whatever.

I've never been chanted at or nearly knocked down by any of my neighbors while shopping for milk at Publix....
I've never seen a group of 40-50 girls mobbed together in a clump, taking up the entire sidewalk and jumping up and down while chanting, intentionally blocking the way and laughing as people tried to get by, while at Target. But at EPCOT? Yep!

So I guess the moral of the story is... Don't go to Epcot...Do go to Target! Mostly because you won't find a mob of 40-50 girls together in a clump taking up the entire sidewalk. That's one for Target. To be honest, I have never seen that in Walmart either. People bumping into you, cutting in front, blocking isles with carts on the right, them on the left, not caring one little bit if you can get through or not... that I have seen. I'll bet if you think about it... you have also!

Yes, but this particular thread is about chanting in the Stretching Room at Haunted Mansion. Imagine having never been on Mansion before and people were doing that. Kills the experience. It's the equivalent of talking loudly at the movie theatre.

Have you been to AMC at Disney Springs, you would think it was a Book club in the theaters.

If I could live in Japan, I would. They are they most respectful and considerate people in the world.

Granted, I haven't been in Japan since 1970, but, while waiting in line to get a ticket for the bullet train from Ozaka to Tokyo I twice had people almost knock me over while trying to get in front of me in line. One must have been in his 90's. I was 22, in great shape, big and looked very military (cause I was) so all I could figure was that he had trained as a Kamikaze in WWII. I think it depends on what part of Japan you are in. They are calmly, aggressive if there is such a thing.
