Haunted Mansion (in it's 4th week) has dropped to 8th place. comparing the film to it's predecessors:

Country Bears (4th week gain/total/cost):
$408,814/$16,988,996/$35,000,000

Pirates:
$18,844,044/$304,879,615/$125,000,000

Haunted Mansion:
$4,243,000/$59,117,000/$90,000,000

sorry for those who liked it. it's not good enough to be labeled a "hit".

it has but both have yet to make up for what they cost. HM might with overseas and video sales but it won't in the box office.

It should finish just under $70 million here, I expect it to make back its production costs with its overseas run.

I think this baby 'll be huge on video, I must say, I enjoyed it. Eddie Murphy wasn't Mulan or Shrek funny, but he still had some great moments. Perhaps Steve Martin would've been a better fit for this role, a lot better than his roles in Looney Tunes and Cheaper by the Dozen. Oh well, I can't wait for the DVD, and i'm definitely gonna check out those amazing sets when i head down to Disney World on Saturday.

i wish i could share you enthusiaism. i didn't find one bit of the movie funnyexcept for when the singing busts basically insulted eddie. his lines were very very flat.
