Truly awful. My thoughts and prayers for all that ran, their families, and their spectators. This puts a shadow over a race that so many work years to participate in. Hope all of our WDWMagic runners are safe.

Hey whoever started this thread, thanks. I was reading the news at school about 2 hours ago and thought nothing else could happen today, so I came here first instead of checking the news! But man. This is nuts. And just completely terrifying.

Stunned. Never occurred to me that something like this would happen at a race site.

Hearing 2 dead, at least 22 injured, 5 bombs found (2 at the finish, 1 safely detonated by police, the other 2 in their possession being dismantled).

Quite frankly, since 9/11, I've been surprised more stuff like this hasn't happened. Not that we have any idea yet who is responsible for this.

Yeah, I mean...it makes sense. Lots of people and media around. Boston is THE premier marathon in the US. And it happened right after the 4-hour mark when lots of people were finishing...:(

Actually, the timing was discussed a bit earlier on one of the news channels. They were wondering on the timing of the bombing, thinking that there would have been more media attention if it had happened as the winners were coming through.

Sick, sick sick people in this world. I've only seen footage of the first explosion, that was enough to make my heart sink and fear in my throat. I wont watch any more it sounds horrendous.
Sending prayers to those affected.
Where are we safe anymore. :( :(

There's a police official on the news now.
He's talking about how they have a major issue with bags and things that were dropped by people fleeing the scene. Each bag or package has to be treated as a potential bomb.

Next official briefing is scheduled for 7pm Eastern.

Boston police chief confirmed there was an explosion at the JFK library.

With the number of guests in the city today, between the marathon, the RedSox and the Bruins, and now several hotels have been evacuated/locked out, where are all these people going to go tonight? We've only got another hour or 2 of daylight, and it's going to cool off soon. God help them all!

Yeah. My mother was working in Manhatten on 9/11, though not near the Trade Center. She was stuck there overnight, and was fortunate that the company she was working for had enough pull that they were able to get hotel rooms for the employees.
