Books about The World

I know this has been dealt with before but I couldn't find the threads. I'm looking for a good book to hold me over until my trip (which is 9 months away ). I've been 6 times so I don't need a book that is solely about tips or planning. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I get ready by reading the Imagineering Field Guides for Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios and Disney Animal Kingdom. You may have already enjoyed them, but if not, they contain a lot of interesting information as to the development of each park.

On a related note, would anyone be interested in a book that tells the history of Disney World focussing on the real estate development itself? Starting with the Seminoles, through the civil war, orange groves, and finally to the Disney ownership. The focus would be on the people who actually built the place, made the decisions to put in roads, Epcot, etc . . . To be honest, I actually had the idea of a mini-series, featuring Walt, Roy, the retired General and Admiral who built Magic Kingdom, and then the later building prjects. Obviously Eisner and now Lasseter would be part of it.

I know, sounds crazy, but great things can happen from crazy ideas.

Any thoughts on this?

Ralphlaw - I'm absolutely interested. I'm going to send you a PM about it. I'm glad you brought this up.

I just read a book called Project Future which details the behind the scenes story about the creation of Disney World. I enjoyed the book, but I'm not sure you would like it unless you were interested in the subject to begin with.

I enjoyed Realityland and Disney War (this one focuses on the company rather than the Parks.) There's also the From The Magic Kingdom to the Movies books about the Haunted Mansion and Pirates, and Jason Surrell's book about the Disney mountains... I forgot the title of it.
