Booking advice

Afternoon all,

I've run in to a situation around my upcoming holiday and really don't know where to go next so I was looking for some advice.

Our next holiday is due this November for 2 weeks at Pop Century resort and I've just received a letter informing us that building works will be going on at the resort during our stay and the computer pool (the smaller quieter one) will be closed. Both of these are kind of a big deal for me, a couple years ago we had a similar letter when staying at all star music, I though nothing of it but the noise did impact our holiday waking us up quite few times (we travel from the UK so for the first week sleep patters are generally irregular and we may come back and have a nap in the middle of the day). Regarding the pool closure, we don't have kids so rely on the smaller pool for a more peaceful experience where things aren't so crowded but we're not going to have that either this year.

I spoke with guest services to see if we could be moved but apparently all other value resorts are fully booked during our stay so if we still want our holiday it's going to have to be at POP. I know that they may not have known about these works at the time of booking (5 months ago) but it frustrates me that nobody has really tried to help out considering this is the 2nd time I've been impacted by this and the last time I just 'took it'.

I was really looking for some advice from you guys, am I being unreasonable here? is there anywhere I can go next or is it a lost cause? This holiday is kind of a big deal for me as it's our 10th Anniversary and I want things to be perfect.

Thanks in advance

It couldn't hurt to write to guest communications - be polite, but state your case.

There is another quiet pool at Pop, the Bowling Pin pool in the 50s section. If you must remain at Pop, ask to be in a building close to this pool. I believe all the buildings in the 50s section have already been through their refurbishment and therefore you wouldn't hear any noise. Rest assured you won't be assigned a room in any area that is in the midst of refurb upheaval....Disney blocks out those rooms so that guests are not disturbed.

I myself have a Pop stay for September and am looking forward to it! Have a happy anniversary and a magical vacation :).

I have been worried about this before also. Last November we had the same situation with our reservation at wilderness lodge. I called guest services and asked for a room as far away from the construction as possible and they said that they would, do their best. To my surprise when we got there I didn't even know the constriction was going on. I had no idea. I would call and request a room far away from the construction. Hope this helps.

Your best scenario might be to agree to go to Pop but nicely explain you're not happy about it. Then further nicely explain your situation in an email, phone call or letter at a later date.
