Has anyone try to book a room for one night while at the park? and what was the result? did you get a room and was it a fare price.

Yes and Yes.

We originally were in the Orlando area for a wedding (staying off property), and decided to extend our stay one extra night night and go to Epcot.

We were able to call that Sunday morning and book at All-Star Music for that night, and get the passholder rate too.

It was in late January so the parks were not very crowded.

BTW, we had a great time!!!

Yep!
Quite a few years ago I was staying off-site during my second visit to Orlando. We checked in and headed to our room. What a dump! :hurl:
This was just after we stayed at the Polynesian for the first time ever (first time on property actually). Well, that had definitely spoiled us. We went to dinner and discussed how much we hated the room and deciding what we were going to do. The more we discussed it, the more we hated it.

Finally, we decided to see if we could get a room at Disney for that same day (3 more nts). They had availability so we booked it, went back to the dump hotel, complained and checked out (no charge - luckily for them  ). Went back to Disney and stayed at the Carribean Beach resort. :sohappy:

Here's the kicker (so you get my mental state)...
The prior year, my first visit to Orlando/WDW as an adult, we stayed at a Days Inn on Colonial. It was a bug fest in the room. We stayed only two nights, checking out early, and went to a Best Western on Int'l Drive (much better place). During that trip, while riding the MK ferry back one evening, I spotted a guy sitting on his balcony at the Polynesian reading a paper. The sun was just setting and the whole picture was perfect peacefullness. I vowed that very moment that I would one day stay at Disney's Polynesian resort! A dream was indeed born!

The next year when we decided to return to Orlando, we scrimped and saved to stay there for the first few nights of our second trip. Even back then ('94), the Disney resorts were way, way too expensive - we felt that was where wealthy people stayed. In fact, for that week, we could only afford the Polynesian for the first half of our week vacation. We had booked the dump hotel for the final half.

Know what...haven't stayed off property every year since! ;)
That was the trip I fell in love with the Disney magic! :D

Excuse the rant, this just brought back all the memories though! :)

Yes, you can book for one night, but you still have to call CRO 1-407-W DISNEY. You can't go to the resort to make reservations. You can sometimes get very good deals; sometimes not. I tried in April when we were staying off property and the best they had was a Moderate for $77 plus tax. I am an AP (Annual Pass holder) though. The room would have been $97 plus tax for non-AP holder My wife said 10 days were too many already, so we are going back in 52 days. Staying at ASMo for $59 plus tax for preferred room. The AP pays for itself if you are a big WDW fan and stay at least 8 days.

We had a situation where we booked the Sheraton Four Points on 192 through Expedia (dumpiest of all dumps! - don't even know if it is still there). My wife didn't sleep the whole night because of the tarantula on the wall and I would not shower without shower shoes!

We checked out the next morning and knew that we would stay anywhere but there. For a couple more $$ per night, we we able to get a room at All Star Sports with immediate check-in (at 7:30 AM!)

It can be done but your odds are better if it's not a busy time of the year.

I just booked a client for 1 night at the end of August and when the room only discounts came out I switched it over for him. When the AP rates came out for Sept. I applied that to his room since he is an AP holder and he saved even more.
