For example, when you check into a hotel, the hotel looks at your planned stay, and gets an authorization for, say, $200/per day. That is, by some formula, their average daily charges for such a stay. That "auth" does not result in a transaction, or anything that would appear on your bill. Its just a reservation of a portion of your credit line, to pay for anticipated charges. Does your check card, have such priviledges?
