Hi Y'All,

We just booked into PORS for Feb/04 because we have 5 people in our family. But now I've learned that Port Orleans is getting a total face lift starting with PO French Quarters Resort (now closed for the reno's) and then Riverside. That has me a little concerned with the conditions at Riverside in general :( .

Is PORS getting a little run down or is it still in fantastic shape??

Also, are the pools and Restaurant also closed at POFQ?? One of reasons we picked Riverside was the fact you could use FQ ammenities (pools and restauarants).

I guess the up-side is that we won't be fighting with FQ guests for seats on the buses!!!

please let me know what you know about the Riverside rooms and beds (hear the beds aren't that great).

cheers...

it means that

A- Disney is changing the look of the resort
B- it needs some preventative maintenance
C- they aren't selling a lot of ressies and need an excuse to lower the number of available rooms...

those are the 3 big ones

In my opinion our room was VERY worn out. We have stayed at every single resort on Disney property, and this is the only one we have ever had a problem with. The room was just plain dirty, with mold and dirt in the bathroom tile and bathtub, and peeling wallpaper everywhere. Several lightbulbs were missing, and the bedcovers were stained in various shades. We had a dresser missing with a bare screw left in its place. If you wlaked with socks on the bottom of your feet turned black.
We have never had a problem with room cleaniliness before, from All Stars to Wilderness Lodge and others. I just think this resort needs a thorough remodeling.
The grounds themselves are still lovely, and the boatride to DTD is nice, but in my opinion the CS or CBR are a much better value for your money.

What a shame to hear that .It was the first resort we ever stayed at in 99 and it wa in tip top shape clean well kept
housekeeping did a spectacular job alway's had something
new to look forward to each night when you returned cause
they would decorate with the twinkets you left hanging around.
Sounds like just another reason for Eisner to step down but thats for another thread.

We had hair in the drain of our tub at Beach Club Villas, and in the corners of the bathroom, so it isn't just Port Orleans that's looking a little rough. My son came home with athlete's foot.

We stay at POR the first week of december last year in the mansions section. our room was clean and pretty nice. but we did have the rail in the shower fall off the day before we left! The grounds were absolutaly beautiful and well maintained! the ser vice was tops! The food court was nice and very reasonable for disney. Really, the place is very beautiful! I would stay there again! We were suppose to stay at the boardwalk and had to change plans a week before we left and come to wdw a week later. We had to stay at POR instead and I was not dissapointed! We will be experiencing the boardwalk this june ! POR is a very pretty and peaceful place! The grounds and river are very very enjoyable! Have a wonderful trip!!
