Bonnet Creek to MK

If memory serves me right, when we stayed at POR, we turned one way to get to POR and one would turn the opposite direction to get to Bonnet Creek. Magic Kingdom was a bit of a drive from POR, and therefore, would be quite a ways from Bonnet Creek. The reason I mention it is because I have a coworker planning a trip in March to Bonnet Creek. She told me today that the company that she is booking through told her that she can walk to the MK from her resort. I told her I really don't think so, based on what I just said above, but I told her I'd get on here tonight and check. She said she wouldn't be a bit surprised if I were right because this company has lied to her before and she wouldn't put it past them to be lying to her now. I don't remember what the name of this company is, but she has a timeshare through them and said she plans to drop her membership after this trip.

You are right. The BC resort is the furthest resort from the MK. THe only resorts within walking distance are GF, Poly, Cont, and WL althoutgh the only one one can actually walk from is the Cont.

Thanks, I didn't think my memory was being fuzzy on me. I remember in driving to and from our resort, seeing some kind of a structure that reminded me of a lifeguard seat, or something. I got to know that this was my turnoff for POR. Turning to drive by this structure would take me straight to the Port Orleans resorts, and I thought I remembered seeing signs for Bonnet Creek in the exact opposite direction. From Port Orleans, if you go all the way down and turn left, it would take you by Fort Wilderness, and then go to the next stop and turn right and it would take you to Magic Kingdom. So I knew that if I was remembering all that correctly, there is no way that Bonnet Creek could be walking distance from Magic Kingdom...not unless you don't mind an hour or so walk. I'll have to let my coworker know tommorrow.

That entire description is picture perfect. The life guard seat is an advertisement for the DVC by the way. I am staying at POFQ next weekend and the only thing I dont like about it is the distance from MK.

You can only walk to the Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary. Bonnett creek isn't far by car to the Magic Kingdom, but it isn't right around the corner either.

Also, when you are at PO you can get to the MK area quicker by going the back way and past Fort Wilderness.

Tell your friend that the distance "as-the-crow-flies" from the closest Bonnet Creek building to the front gate of the Magic Kingdom is about 4.6 miles...

Of course there's a few things in her way along that beeline route, like the Caribbean Beach Resort, all of Epcot, a few multi-lane roadways, a couple miles of forest and swamp, and a corner of the Seven Seas Lagoon. I think it might be about 6.5 miles if you stuck to the edge of the roadways (that is if Disney Security didn't stop and pick you up along the way)

Or just show her this:

Can't you walk from GF??

& Wyndham Resorts owns the Bonnet Creek Timeshare.
Not unless you can jump about 20 ' across a canal.

From my understanding there were plans at on time to build a draw bridge to span this canal but the idea was scrapped along with the complete walk way around the 7 seas lagoon.

I was wondering that when we were on the monorail. You can see a walkway in this satellite shot:

Has anyone walked down there? Its quite a ways, and it all of a sudden ends. Too bad they didnt just complete it
