Bonnet Creek Resort???

Hey all,

I just got back from visiting WDW and I noticed something interesting: A sign for Bonnet Creek Resort!!! The enttance was located just up the road from Caribbean Beach. When we drove by it was a hotel that was owned by Fairfield, not Disney and it looked like there is room for many other hotels like it. It looked like a nice hotel, but no theming (looked like the resorts near PI). Now maybe you have talked about this before on another thread and since I'm new to the site, maybe one of you can steer me in the right direction. I just wanted to know why Disney would let an outside hotel company build right on Disney property (esp. one so close to EPCOT and Studios)? Is that even Disney property? Do guests that stay there get the same ammentities that guests who stay on Disney owned hotels (Poly, Contemp, etc)? And what do guests get who stay at the "outside" hotels near PI? I just have so many questions on this and hope someone has some info. I know my history and know Swan & Dolphin are not technically Disney resorts and why they are not, but that I understand, Fairlfield at Disney I do not!!! :brick:  . If anybody has some insight to Bonnet Creek Resort it would be much appriciated!!!

SincEARly,

Steve

If you do a search on these forums I think you can find some more information about it...

From what I gather, the land was never Disney's... Disney never could purchase it, I dunno, I think that's right but I'm not sure... anyway, hotel chains got a-hold of it and built the hotel there. I'm not sure if it will receive any sort of affiliation with Disney, i.e. Good Neighbor Hotels and such, ... I cannot recollect anything further... Do a search, you'll find plenty of solid information. :)

It disgusts me b/c it is so darn close to Caribbean Beach and really takes away from the overall serene feeling of being away from it all. As do the tops of bowling pins and the like that can be seen over at Pop Century.

I have heard tho, that the landscape is growing in nicely, and that the bowling pins and Bonnest Creek are not as intrusive to Caribbean Beach as they once were.

Is that Bonnet Creek nonesense multiple stories, similar to the hotels in Downtown Disney. B/c that would wreak havoc on poor Caribbean Beach. Any pictures of it? I'll def have to take a look next trip!

And on a random thread drift, (I've always wondered this) why did Disney never build another island village at Caribbean Beach next to Jamaica, across form Trinidad South? It always seemed they stopped short. Maybe funding, or jsut not that many rooms needed. Now, I prefer that vast expanse of land as empty, its pretty and quiet. Maybe that was Disney's idea all along....
