Bonehead moves in the park........

OK, let's all share some of the bone-headed things that we've done in the parks. I'll start this shindig off!

If I'm not mistaken, it was our December trip in 2009. It was probably around 9:30am or so and we were wandering through FL from TL. Right as we move past Pooh Lady Tremaine and the two step-sisters walk up to us. Drizella extends her hands towards my son, and he takes it and kissed it like gentlemen do. All three of them were taken back by the fact that he knew exactly what to do(he was 8 at the time). She then chats him up and says that he is her new fiance.

The whole exchange is priceless and right as the three ladies walk away I realize what a dufus I have been for the last 5 minutes. Guess who had the camera around his neck and didn't even turn it on much less take any pictures........yeah, you guessed it.

But wait, it gets better(or worse depending on your philosophical stance).

We end up watching some daytime parade that they had going on and we're at our usual spot by the flags in Liberty Square. Well, here comes LT and the sisters in the parade. Amazingly, they recognize my son AND it's the same Drizella. She again extends her hand and he kisses it and this time I have it on video!!

As we stand there in amazement I start to feel a sense of redemption!! I again feel like a man and new chest hairs quickly sprout!! Oh wait......I check the LCD screen and what do I see? The green arrow giving me the okay to record. So for the first 12 minutes of the parade I thought I was recording, including my shot at redemption for "the kiss". I quickly tell my wife and my heart just sank. I felt like absolute garbage for the rest of the day, even though my wife and kids tried to console me.

So, what kind of bonehead moves have you made while in the parks?

"Like" isn't the appropriate button, it's more like "I can sympathize."

My bonehead move - one of the top three things to do at MK was to meet Merida. First thing in the morning. I wanted to head straight there. We walked down Main Street, and I had a brain poot. We turned left into Adventureland. I totally forgot where I really wanted to go first. It only occurred to me mid afternoon when the line was waaay too long.

Didn't do that in the parks, but, I did do basically the same thing at my Daughters wedding. I had decided to record it so I got one of the 'relatives' to record it from up in the choir loft. We were about half-way through the ceremony when my "camera man" comes down and taps me on the shoulder to tell me that we ran out of tape. Nothing I could do at the time, so I just turned my attention back to the ceremony. After the thing was done, I checked it out and I had neglected to check the tape that I had put in the camera. It was already about 2/3 recorded with some other thing. I was sure that I had put a new one in, but, in the excitement I put a used one in the camera. No way to capture the moment was possible and I felt awful about it. I broke the news to my Daughter during the Father/Daughter Dance at the reception. I figured she wouldn't kill me in front of all those witnesses.:oops::rolleyes:

In the Parks
No
I once didn't take a camera and didn't have a cell phone, and of course that was the day Corbin Bleu, a Disney Channel Star (High School Musical films, which I was very into at the time) was in the park. I saw him on Space Mountain and thought, "That dude has hair like Corbin Bleu," only to get outside and discover it was Corbin Bleu.

Needless to say, I've never been without something that takes pictures since.

Sometimes I feel boneheaded when I try to be polite to other guests. Yesterday, I saw a couple with a stroller drop something, I ran over to pick it up for them, only to have them discard it on the ground again, before I realized it was their trash and they were too lazy and disgusting to take it to the can 4 feet in front of them. I need to be cautious about trying to be polite to others.

Ha, they probably thought you were being a wise a-- for giving it back to them.

2 trips ago, we headed out early to the MK to take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours. We thought it was strange that there was only 1 short line off to the side that was being let in, but whatever, we got in line. Walked in the park, up to the castle, and were met with ropes blocking off all the lands. We were so confused... why aren't they letting us into the rest of the park? We stood at the ropes for a good 15 to 20 minutes, giving the evil eye to cast members who were standing nearby (beyond the ropes) for not letting us in, when we realized we had the wrong day. The line we went through was for breakfast reservations before park opening :D It was kinda neat, though, to enjoy the castle area before the park opened, and of course it was a chance to be the first ones on Space Mountain, once the park finally did open. :)

My biggest bone-heade d move, trust me there are SEVERAL, was in '10 when we RV'd down to FW. Got ready in the AM, went out to wait for the internal bus...waited what seemed like forever for the bus to DHS, finally arrive at the park, stand on line at the turnstiles...no ticket. Fortunately, Guest Services issued me a new one.

This past February on the trip with my best friend, we were in Fantasyland by the new part and I realized the time was getting to where we had to get the monorail to 'Ohana for dinner. As an important note to this, my buddy had some cranky ankle issues for a couple of weeks leading up to the trip but was doing ok. We had ADRs for 6:30 so I figured if we got the monorail by 6:10ish, we'd be fine. It was a touch before 6, so we hustled our way all the way through the park and out the front(save it....don't get ahead of me). His ankle was really bothering him by the time we got to Main St. and then moving quickly up the ramp to the monorail didn't help.

We got to the Poly @ 6:25 and we had a few minute wait before our table was ready. Steve's ankle was really bothering him and I felt horrible. Well, I felt worse when I called my wife to say hi and told her what was going on and she said "nice job dumb-a$$, why didn't u just take the train from FL to the front of the park instead of making him walk". I felt like such a moron...I never thought about it and we couldn't have been 50 yds from the train station too.

I haven't made any bonehead moves in the parks .. yet. But we're taking our first family trip there in September and made the bone-head mistake to tell my 3yo DD that we're going. Now everyday it's "mommy is the summer over yet?" "Mommy is it Sept yet?" "Mommy, do we go to Disney today?" It's super cute but just a tad bit tiring :p

Next trip we're telling her on the Magical Express bus...

Well, outside the parks, while riding the DME on one trip, I forgot to get off my stop at Pop Century. On the one hand, I was forced to take a bus to DTD for a bus back to Pop Century. (Wasn't willing to spend money on a taxi!) But on the other hand, it was nice to check the interior of the AKL for a little while. In the parks, on a different note, I want to take so many pics but I end up basking myself in the environment too much that I forget to photograph!

Been there before too thinking the camera was on AND also I've been caught leaving the lens cap on thinking i was getting a good shot. Another bonehead move on my part.... walking along taking photos everywhere, not aware that I was about to bump into someone. Crash... sorry, yeah you have my permission to chew me out.
Another one.... not paying close attention and sitting down at someone elses table after getting my food tray.
