Boma or Sanaa?

Hi all! We’re taking our first ever trip to Disney World (myself, husband and 14 yr old daughter) in mid October. Staying at AK Lodge. We’re trying to squeeze a lot into this trip, and have room in our itinerary for one meal at the hotel. Was going to make it Sa’naa, but now that Boma is opening, I can’t decide! For dinner, which would you choose? (Assuming Boma is the same as pre-covid) We might get the Sa’naa bread service to-go at some point if we don’t end up eating there, so that’s not a deciding factor for us. Also, if it were breakfast at Boma vs dinner at Sa’naa, which would you choose? Thanks in advance!!

If you wanna eat with animals than Sanna if you want a buffet than boma. I was not a fan of the entrees at Sanaa the bread was amazing tho. So I would pick boma than to go bread service.

Thanks for the response, that’s what I was thinking. (We have a savannah view room, so I think we’re set with seeing animals) Of course, this is all assuming I can snag a reservation! Do you prefer breakfast or dinner at Boma?

Yes
Boma! Just because the wide selection of food (if they bring it back) caters to the whole family, even the pickiest eaters will find something that they like, even the vegetarians! Dinner is always our choice.

Sanaa only has its bread service and butter chicken going for it, the rest of the menu is only good enough if you add sufficient butter to it to make it slide right off the plate.

I’d do Boma dinner over Sanaa. I wasn’t too impressed with our Sanaa entree last but I think about that Boma spread really often! Yes, Sanaa has the animal views, but Boma is still really nicely themed (really, all of AKL is) and made us feel like we were worlds away. Plus, you can enjoy the views of animals from many places, but unlimited soups, dishes, and Zebra Domes? Boma. :hungry:

If Boma returns with the wide range of food it had pre-pandemic, then I'd go with Boma. They have all your buffet basics and some more adventurous options, so there is something for everyone.

I'd say try and get in for both breakfast and dinner at Boma - both are excellent especially as you are staying at AKL. If you can only do one, then go for dinner.

First, I would like to say "welcome". I have not eaten at Sanaa, and I'm sure it is probably exceptional. We have eaten BOMA's ("enclosure") breakfast and dinner buffets and have never been disappointed. BOMA is our go-to arrival day late dinner. @wdwmagic has confirmed that it will re-open as a buffet.

That’s a tough choice as both are pretty awesome for different reasons

bread service from Sanaa can be had at dinner, to go, or in the lounge.
The breakfast at Sanaa is also pretty darn good. Reasonably priced

Boma. Buffet. Many more choices. Eat until you drop! Haha
Breakfast at Boma is amazing as well.

if I had to suggest….I’d say dinner at Boma (as we will in November) and lounge bread service at Sanaa.

really you can’t go wrong here…😀

I'd still go with Sanaa. We don't know what Boma is going to be like when it reopens. I understand that some people love Boma and that you'd likely have much more variety to your meal if it's still a buffet with all of the offerings, but I still don't think the quality of food matches the price. I know that's Disney buffets in general, but I think you get better quality, especially with meats, when you dine at Sanaa.

Thanks everyone, that was super helpful! I snagged a reservation for Boma the night we arrive, and also for breakfast the morning we leave! Can't wait! (I did keep my Sanaa reservation, just in case Boma seems to be not great when it opens back up)

Yes. (Kidding). I'm conflicted also. I currently have a Sanaa ADR for one evening and thinking about switching to Boma. Then if I did switch to Boma, I'd have back-to-back Boma dinner followed by Boma breakfast the next morning.

We've enjoyed both. However, unless you're a family of really big eaters, I'd vote for Sanaa (especially if you're able to dine during daylight hours, so the animal views won't be wasted).

Although buffets are a fun way to explore new foods, they're often wasted on my teens (who'd rather stick to one or two tried-and-true items). Plus, DH and I are always trying to watch our weight, and hate to have the added pressure of trying to "eat enough to make it worth our while" at expensive buffets, which just leads to guilt later. Sanaa's portion sizes are more than adequate, we're paying less for them, and we get to take any leftovers with us (which of course you can't at Boma).

I decided to hold Sanaa. I do have a Boma breakfast ADR, though.

Round two: I have a Sanaa ADR at 8:35pm and just grabbed a Boma ADR at 9:05pm. Keep in mind I have Boma Breakfast the next morning. So, again, I ask you: Sanaa or Boma?

Edit: I gave up Sanaa. I've been there twice. Keeping Boma 9:05pm dinner with Boma 10:40am breakfast the next morning.
