BOG lunch...worth it?

I'm trying to cut back a little with our ADRs...we just don't need that much food and I really don't want to spend that much on food lol...so I'm between dinner at jungle nav or lunch at BOG. Truthfully, BOG only made the original cut bc it's one of the kids favorite movies and we thought it would be nice to see...but from a quality and expense and getting what we pay for point of view, I'm not sure BOG will really leave me satisfied..We talked about maybe not going and she didnt seem bothered by it. This may be our last trip for a year or two so I'm having a hard time deciding between two places we've not tried.

I think the lunch at Be Our Guest is definitely better than breakfast and is worth it to me. But might not be to someone else. Lunch can be hectic depending on the time you go - you have to get your own drinks and find a table in the crowds and that deters some people. But we all enjoyed our lunch at BoG. I'll never do their breakfast again unless they make major changes. The portions we had were tiny, the food was cold, and extremely overpriced. I think the restaurant is definitely something you should see once if a fan of the movie and lunch would be the best option.

Our ADR is for 155..we wanted a late lunch bc we thought it may be a little less hectic. Just wondering if it's worth it more than jungle nav...I want to get rid of one of them. We just had way too many ADRs last time and I'm trying to dwindle down what we have now.

Which menu appeals to you more? That's around the time that we went in March and we were easily able to find a table in the music room (or whatever it's called). It was still loud and crowded though. We liked it being quick service instead of table service, which can take up too much park time if you get a slow server.

If you haven't done BOG at all yet, you should do it. It's worth it to see the inside, especially if you have BATB fan.

We didn't like Skippers Canteen at all. The servers weren't in character (I'm not sure if they are supposed to be). The apps were good, but we thought the food was terrible

Skipper Canteen (nobody really calls it "Jungle Nav") is excellent if you order the right things. The Char Siu pork is fantastic. That said, service can be extremely slow. We've gone a few time and both times we waited longer than we thought was appropriate for our table and then service continued to be slow while we ate.

Lunch is the best meal at BOG in my opinion, and I feel completely transported into the movie when I'm there. Besides the tuna salad (which we talked about ;)) the sandwiches and soups don't look like anything fancy, but they are quite delicious actually, even if they are probably overpriced.

However, we had a great experience at Skipper Canteen as well, and thought the theme was pretty great there as well, obviously very different from BOG. The kids might enjoy the silly Jungle Cruise humor. A meal here is going to cost you more than what you would pay at BOG if price is one of your concerns, but I don't think you can go wrong either way. It's QS vs TS.

It's not really overall price I'm looking at...just cutting back. Just can't decide which one. It seems both have pros and cons. I love a good table service and that would be our first day at the park and we plan on staying until close at 11...so it might be a nice way to force ourselves to take a rest.
BOG is our last day...me and the hubs are going back to the party that night without the kids so we were thinking a late lunch before calling it a day with the kids might be nice...but now that I'm thinking about it
..if we are leaving at 4 or 5 stopping for lunch at 2 might be irritating bc we are trying to get our last few rides in. Ugh...I hate making these kinds of decisions.

Personally then, I'd opt for Skipper Canteen lunch on your first day. You're right, it's going to be a long day and starting it off early with a hearty meal would probably be very beneficial.

BOG lunch would probably take less than an hour, especially if you preorder your meals. But it's really up to you how you want to spend your time!

It's actually dinner at skipper canteen.
Is the castle really that amazing? I just don't want to miss that...granted...I know we will be back eventually...I just don't know if my step daughter will really be that excited about the castle...she's 15. I think I'm leaning more towards dinner at skipper canteen..

Agh, that's what I meant, and dinner is definitely the better timing for a break on a long first day!

I'm a Beauty and the Beast freak, and the castle (specifically the ballroom) is truly one of my happy places at WDW, but I wouldn't expect everyone to feel the same way as I have serious attachment issues. ;) But seriously, go with Skipper Canteen then. It seems to check off more of the boxes you want, and the opportunity for new experiences will always be there!

Ok yes...that was my thought all along but you know...making these kinds of decisions is tough and the hubs is no help 😁

Just to be clear, you're not actually going inside of a castle when dining at BOG. You're going into the main "dining room", but the only castle in that area is the fake one up on the hill (which you don't go inside of).

Oh I think this post down plays the uniqueness and ambiance of BOG.

In summer of '16, my family ate at BOG for lunch. A CM led us to an open table after ordering. We didn't have to "fend for ourselves". Is it still that way? I have lunch reservations there this summer.

In my breakfast/lunch experiences, after you order or even if you preorder, you're given the 'rose' and you find your own table in one of the three dining rooms. We were never shown/told where to sit.

I love BOG for lunch. The Braised Pork is my favorite meal in the Kingdom. Breakfast is only good to get in the park early. Order your food ahead of time!!!!!!!!!
