BOG Dinner with no Beast?

Has anyone been to a Be Our Guest dinner service and not seen Beast? When I made my reservation, I was told that the BOG dinner is not a character experience and that the Beast may or may not be there. We went last year and he was there. Does anyone know how often he is or isn't there? Thanks.

He's always been there in my dinner experiences. It's not a character meal in that he comes table to table and takes pictures and signs autographs with you. He'll come into the dining room ceremoniously during dinner and then head a room on the side where you can meet him and take pictures and such after you're done eating and before you leave.

That's called Disney is covering their butts. They don't want people booking there, expecting to see the Beast, and have a night where he doesn't show up and people demanding free FP's, stays, reimbursed meals, Mickey Bars, Cinderella suite stays, etc, lol, all because he's a character that doesn't have to be there anyway.

I understand people like to experience BOG for the atmosphere... But if you're doing dinner just to get to see Beast I would not recommend it, the actual food at BOG is low in terms of other similar priced options at Disney... While you are probably 95% certain to have Beast there, you will have to stand in line for him and that line can be rather long and slow, I think we wasted about 30 minutes waiting in line after we finished our meal just for Beast so know that you'll be giving up a chunk of time for a interaction that is often little more than a stand here photo and move on.

If you just want the experience of eating there you might think of lunch as a better option.

When I went there was maybe 2 or 3 parties ahead of us to meet the Beast. Definitely didn't see anything close to 30 mins. It was dinner, probably 7-8ish.

well he was sort of not there. We finished dinner and headed to see him. THere was one party in front of us just walking up to him as we approached. We were informed that Beast would be leaving and would return in a couple minutes. We waited and waited and waited...and waited. A half hour passed and no Beast return. The kids were getting tired of standing there. When we inquired if it would be much longer we were told "no it will only be a couple minutes". Well as it neared 45 minutes and the baby was crying and the toddler falling on the floor rolling around tired of waiting and we had fast passes that would be expiring soon...we asked one more time and was told they were not sure when he would return. So we had to leave. Not sure what happened and I am sure it is a rare occurrence but it is possible to not get to meet him.
