Bob Iger is worse than Michael Eisner ever was - A Discussion on Brand Withdrawal

That's not such a bad idea.

I think a lot of people would disagree with you, including a lot on this board. And I honestly don't believe you want this either, this is too cynical of a view for a 19 year old. You just want this iteration of Disney to die, which I can understand if it doesn't appeal to you. You want the Disney of your youth (or maybe before your time) to be reborn.

I'm a millenial, I do not want the disney of my youth to be reborn at all. It was such a sad movie era and park era, I have a lot of good memories of it, but I want to see the stuff change and grow, not stay stagnant and boring.

Same. Seeing Iger make the same mistakes that Eisner made in the 2000's is what's upsetting me.
I'd say Iger's mistakes are not nearly as depressing, or at least for me as Eisner's were. At least the non star wars output is enjoyable. I can not see how one would get enjoyment out of super star limo, journey into your imagination, sounds dangerous, and more. I can see, however, some one enjoying mission breakout, navi river journey, and ariel however. As long as Iger doesn't make a super star limo 2. I and many others will be fine with his rule.

I agree, but it seems some (not saying anyone here) long for the Disney of old. I've even seen some (again not saying anyone here) basically say that TWDC company died the day Walt died, and that everything since has been just crap.

To me if the company is not moving forward its dead anyways.

I think Bob Iger is Disney's best CEO/president since Roy O.

Iger has nothing to work with if it were not for Eisner and Wells...
Eisner was far from perfect...but he had stones. He aggressively used the dormant value and appeal of Disney to make it what it is today.

Iger has had some relatively minor IP deals...on the whole. And built timeshares after they were already established. His legacy will be defined if he can dig out of the cable mess they have.

Only really because of the IP aspect. If it was an original ride of that quality it wouldn't have any fans.

What about a company moving backwards and regressing to when they were putting out low quality products?

I wouldn't say so, a lot of people like it more simply because it has more drops.

Well if they do move backwards, which I don't think is happening as the content is still enjoyable, they can just fire Iger and move forward again, but it won't be the way you want it to move forward.

It has the same amount of drop but it lacks the big drop.

The way they're currently moving is the way Eisner was in the early 2000's.

Who is the judge of that though, you? The company by all accounts is moving forward. Now you may personally feel its going backwards and putting out low quality products, but the public at large doesn't agree with you. And even if it wasn't moving forward a CEO change would happen and it'd be moving forward again.

That is your opinion, but isn't the opinion of the public at large. By all accounts the company is doing fine. There are pieces, such as ESPN, which are being adjusted. But overall the company is going in the right direction.

I could stomach Eisner.
At least he could make the appearance of being customer orientated.
Iger pretty much tells the customers to "Shut up, and pay up".
