At least you have a store. They ripped the beautiful one out of our little local mall (a heart breaker as it had some old style characters moving near the ceiling as well as in the front displays), and then gutted the large one in the big mall 30 minutes down the road. By gutted, I mean they ripped all soul out of the place, including carpeting and left it as bare concrete. What you have there is beautiful and reminds me of what that place once was.

The few by me that closed were reused...The layout was never changed and most of the time they are used as Toy Stores in the mall..

A "my guy"......nothing wrong with that line of thinking I suppose. But don't think all that much will change. asianway beat me to it.....he is a yes man....knows the new "Disney way" Shut up...fall in line and keep the numbers up. So many of us have been complaining a long time about Disney merch. Now we know who was responsible.

You ask me this is all starting to set up nicely for Mr. Staggs.

Not to worried about it. Pretty much the next how many years of park development are spoken for so even if he made some decisions of new things to come to the parks, you'd be looking at 2020. By then he could already be replaced and those decisions reversed.

And HOW MUCH merchandise is for Adults? One Friggin Shelving unit of shirts with characters that are rather meh...

Honestly I don't know. I don't usually shop for Disney merchandise. When I think more on it they are catering to their target audience. Would it be nice if they had more for adults? Yes, but I understand their business decision.

Staggs didn't have any either, I don't think.

Neither do I and I have applied for this position as stated several weeks ago on these here message boards - http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/a-spirited-perfect-ten.894588/page-158#post-6537081
I should also note that if they were going to hire a guy with a science degree my piled higher and deeper in physical chemistry blows his away. So, in short, the Disney company owes me an explanation. I will admit that I never did the promised fortnight of post tidying up because I had no idea how close I would be to getting the job.

Deck chairs. Titanic.

You seem to think re-arranging the deck chairs on a ship that is sinking is not an efficient way to spend time. However, I would argue that as I slowly sink into oblivion, doing so in an area that is both comfortable and properly Feng shuied can, in fact, make the descent in to the afterlife (or permanent sleep, I certainly don't want to get in a big theological/philosophical argument!) very pleasant indeed. Plus, that band really did play while the Titanic went down. Play your cards right and you may even be sipping a margarita while all this is going on.

This sounds like the worst move for Parks and Resorts....Someone to water them down more like they have done to the Disney consumer products... Wonder if he was behind all the "Disney Parks" branding...removing the actual individuality of each park and resort... Hmmmm...
Anyone know any more about him?

Not from this particular time river, but in an alternate path he is Emperor of Canada and Estonia. He ruled with an iron fist, but his mandated "Waffle Wednesdays" were a hit.

On a serious note, I wish they would mention that Mr. Chapek was a lifelong fan of the theme parks even if it was bullhockey.

If he was the guy that came up with One Disney we are doomed. They should have hired one of the imagineers for the job.

I can think of one nobody's using....(that's probably what you were already getting at)
Nah, not that big of a hat.

I was just thinking that since this guy spent 22 years in various roles at TWDC most likely in Burbank locked away in some office he probably hasn't spent a lot of time in the parks. Combine that with his very bald head and you have a recipe for disaster. A sunburn on the top of your head is really painful:cool:

Tom Staggs and Bob Iger haven't spent a lot of time in the parks. For that matter, neither did Meg Crofton, so this really isn't going to be a problem for him.

Good point. There's still a chance he could be an improvement over that crew though. I don't know much about his management style and whether he is more hands on or a delegator. To your point, it would be hard to be in the parks less than Iger.

He does sound like Pressler 2.0, with a dash of Meg, so I'm definitely thinking we're going back a decade or so.

I hear his first idea is to build a giant hat in time for DHS's 30th anniversary in 2019. Don't worry, it's just going to be temporary for a year or so.

There used to be 4 Disney Stores in the New Orleans area alone. Now there's only 1 in all of Louisiana and it sucks.
