Hi there. My wife and I love to go boating from the Disney Village Marketplace (well I love it and she quite enjoys it). Anyhow we often see little watercraft on the Seven Seas Lagoon and I wondered where these could be rented from or are they only for resort guests? Also if day guests can indeed rent them, any idea on prices etc

As always, thanks in advance

We've rented from the Poly and were not guests there. It was fun going around the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. Definitely worth doing those bodies of water at least once.

Pricing is the same as the marina at Downtown Disney.

They can be rented at all of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake resorts (including Fort Wilderness).

Just don't do anything to get pulled over by the Disney Water Rats like buzzing a ferry. LOL

You do not have to be a guest staying at a WDW resort to rent watercraft.

Walt Disney World Resort offers a fleet of motorized and non-motorized watercrafts for vacationers looking to make a splash.

Sea Raycers by Sea Ray® boats, sailboats, SunTRACKER® pontoon boats, Boston Whaler Montauk boats, pedal boats, kayaks and canoes are just a few of the available options for rent at various Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

So, as the OP inquired, what are the prices?

The prices are the same all over WDW property. Here is pricing, but I do not know if these are current or not. For exact pricing call 407-WDW-PLAY.

•Sea Raycer: $32/30 mins, $40/45 mins, $45/60 mins
•Montauk: $45/30 mins
•Pontoon: $45/30 mins

Open container laws don't apply on the water though. As long as the driver is not drinking it's ok for the rest to.

Actually, that ("as long as the driver is not drinking") is not true. The driver can drink. Contrary to popular belief - in Florida - it's not illegal to drink and drive/boat. It's only illegal to drink to the extent that one's normal faculties are impaired and/or has a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. So long as neither of those two thresholds are met, one is free to consume alcohol and legally operate a car/boat. :sohappy:

And the waterways at the World are all private property so I think it's even less restrictive. I was told by one of the boat captains that they don't have to have any special licensing to operate the watercraft. Just like the tram drivers don't need a CDL since they're on a closed course.

While I can't speak to tram or boat pilot regulations, law enforcement officers can (and do) issue DUI/BUI on private property. The nature of the property (private or public) is not an element of consideration pertaining to the criminal offense of DUI/BUI. So long as it's in Florida, Florida law applies. Some of us probably know someone who knows someone who got a DUI while sitting in their parked car in their driveway at their home, or in front of a restaurant, etc.

This is correct. You don't have to be a resort guest to rent. I have rented from the Polynesian several times before seeing the Spriit of Aloha dinner show. It's a great activity to do before dinner.

Here is a video of one of my cruises around Seven Seas on a Sea Raycer.

Also, if you have an AP you get a discount. I recommend renting watercraft. It is a lot of fun.
