Boat dock during illuminations

We were watching Illuminations yesterday when we noticed several people being allowed onto one of the docks at world showcase to watch the show. Anyone know what the deal is with that? Is it some type of special tour?

I would say it would have been for the firework cruises they have as listed on their website..

But, Since you mentioned they were on a dock....I'm not sure..

When we were there in October it was reserved for Disney Visa card holders.

Yup VIP guests, sometimes it's family and friends of the fireworks crew, other times it can be special groups. You can't sign up for it.

Maybe it was just a special offer or the CM standing there gave me bad info. I just know I was standing right there and they had ropes set up blocking it off. We stood there right against the rope and a CM was standing next to us. He told us the area was reserved that night for Disney Visa cardholders.

Sure that wasn't showcase plaza? The dock ramp is usually gated not roped, and the plaza is often reserved for groups, credit card holders included.

It's also pretty common for members of bands playing at America Gardens Theater and their families and guests to be taken to the dock in Germany. We got to do this a couple of times recently and it was good fun.

They also use it occasionally for what they call "guest recovery".

I know last time I was there, there were cheerleaders there. It might've been the team that won the competition thing, or I could be thinking of a completely different space. I just remember a lot of cheering and a lot of sparkles (and a lot of "UGGGH" faces from cast members.)
