The Boardwalk is probably my second favorite resort behind the Beach Club. I love it there because the theming is great, the rooms are cozy, and if you don't want to spend the whole day at a theme park, you have a bunch of different options that you can walk to. If you can persuade him to stay in the Beach Club that's even better because they have the best swimming pool on property and it is also walking distance from all the Boardwalk has to offer. Another thing I like about these hotels is that I eat at Epcot 8 out of the 10 days I'm there making it easy to get back to my hotel room.

We enjoyed but didn't LOVE the boardwalk. We loved the location. The pool was ok. The rooms are lovely, but the hallways are endless. Never stayed at yacht or beach, but would try them instead. Actually for us for the price we preferred the dolphin.

But again, the location is phenomenal, walking distance to two theme parks.

Boardwalk is our family favorite resort, just as a personal preference. We love the theming, the Luna pool area, the location, the music playing, walking the loop in the evening, the bakery....just the whole vibe of it. I have nothing bad to say about it, I would give it a shot! :)

It is a great place. Not sure I understand why you are worried you won't like it. We are trying to stay at all the different WDW resorts and have enjoyed each one in a different way. Yes, we have a favorite, WL, but if we only went there because I was worried I would not like somewhere else, we would have missed so many wonderful places.

I've stayed at the Boardwalk numerous times and it is, by far, my least favorite of the Epcot resorts. I find the theme to be incredibly boring, the pool doesn't hold a candle to the pools at the YC/BC and Swan/Dolphin, and you have to go outside to the boardwalk anytime you want a decent meal. Just my 2 cents, but I definitely do NOT recommend the Boardwalk.

I've stayed at the Boardwalk ONCE and that was enough for me. I'll say that it's a beautiful resort and the area around it is pretty cool, and if you don't mind the walk, the paths that lead to Epcot and DHS can be convenient. But because I spend most of my trips at MK, staying at Boardwalk Inn just felt TOO far out for my taste. Bus transportation there was fine, and it does have the boat there to take you to Epcot and DHS, but the boat ride just took way too long to me (because of all the other resort stops before it reaches the parks) and when I'm going to Epcot, I want to get there and go right into Future World. The boat takes you only to International Gateway, which then is a bit of a walk to get into Future World. But back to the resort itself.......our room was fine, and the whole boardwalk area is pretty cool. But what I wasn't crazy about was the fact that there was no place within the resort building itself to get your refillable mugs filled. You actually had to go outside, down onto the boardwalk, and over to the bakery to do that. And the same for any supplies you might need from the general store. These places aren't accessible directly through the via without having to go outside first. So that can be quite a pain if it happens to be pouring down rain, which can happen at pretty much anytime in Florida. So it's really the location and the setup for accessing shopping and eating that I didn't care for.

We love the BWV! Stayed there over Christmas in 2013 and it quickly became one of our favorite resorts. We booked a garden/pool view room and we had an amazing view of the pool with the ToT in the background. I could wake up to that view everyday. Plus you can not beat the location. Being able to walk to HS and EP was amazing and such a huge time saver. When we were there, we shared a bus with The Swan and Dolphin, but BW was first on and first off. I can not say enough good things about the BW. I think you will love it too!

It's one of the best locations... Short walk to Epcot and MGM.... Bus ride to Animal kingdom and Magic Kingdom very short....

If you are spending your whole time at MK, yeah it does make sense, but it is the most centrally located resort(with YC/BC)... No need for a bus to two of them and short bus rides to the other major parks.... The ride from Magic K Resorts to Animal kingdom is a hike...

Boardwalk is a great resort, our favorite actually, location is fantastic with the YC and BC right across the lagoon...tons of places to eat..from snacks to signatures, EPCOT is a very short walk and DHS is also within walking distance or you can ride the boats. Rooms are some of the best IMO..for me sitting on the balcony at dawn/dusk overlooking the lagoon is pure serenity..add to it to sights and sounds and smells its just a fun place. Staff have always been lights out...and yes its a big resort so hall ways are long but what Deluxe isnt....transportation to MK, AK, and DTD also are shared by Swan and Dolphin, but we never have been bothered by it..some folks seem to forget or ignore there will always be a walk or wait for something while at Disney.

BW is my second favorite resort behind the Contemporary. I love the lobby...reminds me of all of the gorgeous vintage turn of the century Jersey shore heyday things. The outdoor deck and seating area is one of my favorite places to relax. We've hung out in the BW lobby and deck area even when not staying there just because we like it so much. And while I didn't think I'd like Luna Park in person, I was pleasantly surprised. There are no right or wrong answers here since this is all personal preference. For me, BW has the best vibe out of the three Epcot area resorts, but you may not really know until you try it out for yourself.

You sound like my mother. :) She only wants to go to OKW.

I love Boardwalk because of the theming, location and the bakery. But the rooms don't compare to OKW. They seemed small and cramped to me compared to the large, bright rooms at OKW.

I'm staying at BWV for the first time in a couple weeks. Excited to check it out. I'm used to AKL Value and VWL rooms, so I think the size will be an improvement for me from what I've read.

One question I've been pondering if anyone knows the answer.

The location of the BW building and the direction it faces seems like it would provide shade in the morning hours as the sun rises. Does anyone know if this is true? Seems like this would be a benefit when it comes to early morning breakfast runs to the bakery and waiting for the boat in the morning. But its hard to tell from a bird's eye view on Google, just how much and how long that sun will really be blocked.

Strange question I know. But I've got kids who aren't huge fans of standing in the sun (Yes, I know...then why take them to Florida in August? Too late for that.) So I was trying to get a feel for how bad it was going to be in the mornings before we've built up that burning heat tolerance from a day in the park.

@Gomer , of course it changes over a year, with the earth's tilt and all, but I've had early morning coffee outside the Boardwalk bakery and been in the sunshine. However, this was in December and the sun was welcome. I'm not sure if there's shade there in September. If I recall, the area up by ESPN was in the shade as the building wraps around to the north there, but from the bakery on down to Jellyrolls was all in sunlight. There are awnings close to the buildings though, so you certainly can find shade if you need it.

Love the boardwalk. By far our families favorite resort. Its all personal preference, but I don't see any reason that you should be afraid to at least give it a shot.

I have stayed at Boardwalk villas, bay lake tower, and the Polynesian (just a regular room- no villa). Boardwalk and Bay Lake are great because they are so close to the parks (EPCOT and MK respectively). I highly recommend boardwalk, its beautiful, the rooms are plenty nice, and the atmosphere of boardwalk is great, it's like a miniature Disney Springs. I never really found the boardwalk to be too inconvenient at all, especially compared to the Polynesian and Bay Lake towers.

TL;DR- Give it a shot
