I'm going to the World in Sept. I have a reservation for a preferred room in Carribean Beach. My wife's co-worker has Vacation Club points that she is willing to sell us for a comperable price for Boardwalk Villas studio room. I have 2 boys 8 and 6. I've stayed at the Carribean Beach before so I know the walk will be short to the main pool and Old Port Royalle, my question is it worth it to stay at the villas and how close would the rooms be to the main pool and the food court? Thanks for any help.

Boardwalk villas studio room vs Carribean Beach preferred room

my wife and i stay at a boardwalk studio room every sept. we absolutely LOVE it there. However a studio room may be a little small for your family. There is only one bed then a pull out couch. But if you are in the mind set where all you are going to do there is sleep you can't go wrong with boardwalk villas. you have 2 parks in walking distance, shops, places to eat, great pool, etc. However i think you will feel cramped in a studio.

YES...it's completely worth it for the location alone. I don't think you'd be too far away from the pool at all...but make sure your kids like clowns, since the main pool has a giant clown on the slide. I think there's also a quiet pool on the villas side of the Boardwalk.
However, you ask how close the rooms are to the food court...the Boardwalk doesn't have a food court. You can walk to the Boardwalk Bakery for breakfast (pastries, etc.), and there are a couple of restaurants on the Boardwalk and across the lake at the Yacht/Beach Club. You're also really close to the restaurants at Epcot.
I'd suggest researching the villas and looking at a map, photos, etc. before you make your decision. Allears.net has a lot of good information.

I definitely recommend the switch. Just remember that since you will be using points for the stay you will have the same ammenities as a DVC member. So you will not receive daily housekeeping.

When our daughters were younger, the four of us always stayed in a BWV studio and were very comfortable. You should be fine.

Sorry to say, I go for the opposite viewpoint - I would head to Caribbean Beach in a minute over BWV. We stayed there just ofter it opened and our studio room, while facing the water was at the total END of the hotel, I am talking right down near the Swan/Dolphin. While it was a change to have a garden tub, den and kitchen, did we need them? - NOT ONCE!! As we have 2 boys now ages 7 and 11, we would choose 2 beds any day over a pull out sofa, and we would miss the daily housekeeping - linen changes are a must when you hit the pool 2 or more times daily.
We also missed the food court, yes there is a boardwalk area that has the bakery, with kids, a food court is a big plus for the budget as well as the ease! The money that BWV costs just is not justified for our family - give me Caribbean beach - or even a value (Pop Century or AS Sports) any day over a studio!! Just my 2 cents!

We really enjoyed both resorts but if I had two boys the age you do I would pick CBR. You're familiar with the resort and I would bet your boys would really like the main pool. Just my two cents. Have fun wherever you decide to go!

As housekeeping was mentioned above as part of staying on points, I figured I'd add that you can pay for daily housekeeping or as many times as you want on your trip. Just arrange foe it at check in. I think bwv offers more in terms of ammenities but dvc rooms are more "home away from home" while if you really want vacation feel cbr is maybe your better bet. Although epcot and hs are in walking distance to bwv which is definetly a huge consideration if you go during a busy period..have a great trip!

It depends if you are going to do any self catering? In a suite you have a fridge and microwave ,so if you want to budget you can have breakfast in your room--you can buy supplies at the store on the Boardwalk---milk/cereals/bread etc. As was said before, you can get boat rides to Epcot and the Studios easily . If the kids tire early evening, you can take turns in walking down to the Boardwalk for the evening entertainments.
