Boardwalk villas question

I'm going to be staying at the Boardwalk Villas (through DVC). I'm not familiar with the specific layout of the rooms. I'd like a "garden view" room to conserve points, but would also like to be near the feature pool. Any suggestions for where to request a room?

I stayed at the Boardwalk Villas during the Millennium celebration. The best place, in my opinion, is so your overlooking the boardwalk itself. There's nothing like looking over a lagoon at night whilst drinking a glass of ice cold coke after a hot day walking around a park, watching all the people walk beneath you, and having the "Epcot" logo on Spaceship Earth glistening in the background. Also, you get to see some of the fireworks from Epcot, so its good all round in my opinion!

Have fun!

You don't say what size accomodations (sp?) you are using.

In any event, we have found that the best "standard view" rooms are x119 - the higher the better. In these rooms, you are looking out over the main driveway and parking lot for the resort, but you can see the fireworks every night from your room.

We have been lucky enough to get this view twice and loved it.
There has been a little noise, but much less than from the rooms overlooking the pool.

we stayed in BWV 1 night during our first trip as DVC members...we wanted to stay for the whole trip, but we just couldn't get it worked out (one of the major downsides of the DVC...course, that was before we knew about the waiting lists that they have) anyway, i LOVED it! we had such an awesome view of the pool! the view was straight on...we weren't at an angle or anything! i LOVED sitting on the balcony, watching everybody. AND, in the morning, you could watch the life guards train....and occasionally, see some ducks going for an early morning swim! we wanted to be on the side facing the boardwalk...but we knew it wasn't likely. but, i swear, after i saw the view, i just didn't care! and i don't even like pool views much! to be honest, i'm not sure what we requested...it was either garden view or pool view. most likely garden view. and really, the noise of the pool didn't really bother me. and if you like staying at the parks as long as possible, then you shouldn't be effected by noise much anyway.
as for where i think you should request a room, i think boardwalk view. i would LOVE to be able to go out on my balcony at night and listen to the water, watch people walk, and look at SSE! but really, most views at BW are great! have a great time staying there, for my sake at least! i'd love to be able to stay there again (it's my favorite DVC resort so far!) but my mom hates BW (claims she doesn't feel like she's in Florida when she's there...while at the same time loves Wilderness Lodge, and there's NO WAY she can feel like she's in FL there! go fig!) so it's not likely i'll be staying at BW again in the near future :( btw, when are you going?

We're going in Sept if we can work it out. If not, then in June. We need a 2BR. I'd love a lagoon view, but want to save the points so I can use them for a second trip.

I am pretty sure that the stock of "standard view" rooms is pretty low. That is, there are FAR more "preferred view" rooms than "standard view". Since preferred view rooms look out over any water or towards any park, you are much more likely to get a preferred view room that looks out over the canal towards MGM.

Take a look in your Member Guidebook. The resort map on page 86 shows that the vast majority of rooms look towards SOME water.

I understand saving points. We bought enough points for about 2 weeks in a standard view 2BR. We can't (yet) afford to buy the points to upgrade to a preferred view.

As I said in my previous post, we loved the standard view room.

We've gotten the preferred view when we stayed there. I love the view of the boardwalk. The one bedroom has 2 tvs, one with a VCR. If you get one of these buy yourself a blank VHS tape and tape the stuff of the TV. I taped the whole Tip For Today segments and then switched to the DVC channel. I'll bet the poolside rooms are quieter though.

Wherever you stay - ENJOY

Is the noise too bad of a problem mousecar?

Our room was right over the carnival game section, so that area can get a little loud, but they're not open all night either. The ferryboats also blow their horns when they approach any of the resorts. I kinda got used to it and even miss those horns. If I hear them I know I'm at Disney!

I totally agree mousecar. At first you think, "I could see how those horns could get annoying", but you'll find that its just one of those noises that let you know you're at Disney. Sounds weird, but you'll understand when you're there! What a feeling it is to be dozing in your bed and to hear it in the distance...

We just stayed in a 2 BR villa. The renovations are still going on, so the choices were VERY limited. The bellman was surprised that we were able to get a 2BR as non-DVC guests. Many of the villas overlooking the lagoon are being worked on, but I don't know the expected completion date.

We stayed in the "Duck Wing" on the first floor, overlooking the driveway. It was a long trek to the lobby, but only a few doors from the quiet pool, a very short walk to the bus stop, and a very short walk to the themed pool. (walking on the walkway along the canal) We had a large assortment of waterfowl outside our door twice daily, and also a friendly bunny. The ducks will come in if you leave the door open...but I didn't test it!

We only had 4 people in the villa, so had tons of room. We had adequate room for 8 at cocktails, but think it might get a little tight if serving full sit down meals for that number.
