Boardwalk questions

Okay everyone - Tell me about the Boardwalk. I have only gone to the Boardwalk once in all the years I have visited Disney World (over 15). I don't remember much about it. How do I get there from the WL or the CSR? I assume there are buses. What about going at night? I only remember there being some kind of carnival games or a magician or something. I am thinking about going on my upcoming trip in May but can't make a decision as yet.

To get to the Boardwalk, you'll need to take a bus from your resort to any open theme park, or Downtown Disney, and transfer. Or you can drive or take a cab directly.

Weather permitting, they do have some live entertainment like you mentioned - street magicians, mimes, acrobats, etc. There are a few restaurants, bars and clubs. It's neat just to walk around at night, even if you're not into the "night life".

I will never doubt you, as you're always 100% spot on. However, having stayed nearly 45 days at the Boardwalk over the past decade, I have witnessed street performers a total of 4 times in all those days and nights. Granted, I had some bad weather evenings, but not 40 of them. I just don't know if/when these performers show up.
maybe they're all illusionists. I fully expect cutbacks hit them too, but I'm even thinking of my first stay all the way back in 2005.

Jellyrolls is a great piano bar. If you go on the weekends make sure to get there early (by 9ish) if you want a table.

The Boardwalk area also just has this atmosphere about it that is the best combination of nostalgic and whimsical. When I need to go to my happy place, I think of the Boardwalk area.

We love the Boardwalk, the cast is super friendly here and its actually one of the few places on property left where I feel that old Disney touch of good service and friendly cast.
Last month we noticed a couple acts on the boardwalk, it was a sunday night, so maybe weekend nights you would have more of a chance to see some entertainment. I just wish the dining was not so over inflated in prices, but then thats property wide. We love the rooms and it just seems like a cozy comfortable stay without the rush and busyness some of the others have.

Don't give me too much credit!

I've only been to the Boardwalk a handful of nights, but I saw entertainers out on the Boardwalk on all of them, except for one rainy night last March....and they were in the lobbies of the resorts (i.e. the magician went into the Boardwalk lobby).

I've only been there and seen them after dark, so I can't attest to any other time of the day.

VBW is our home resort, and we've spent 4 or 5 times more nights there, always during the summer. I always expect to see entertainers. Maybe they are not there sometimes, but I was probably too tired to notice!!

The Boardwalk is our family favorite resort. We mostly see magicians performing in the evening. I like to just walk around the entire loop, it's beautiful. Stop in the bakery for a cupcake, or the candy shop for ice cream. We've rented the surrey bikes before, and rode around on those. I think it's worth a visit. :)

Here is a photo I just shot. This is really the only section of games. There is a photo booth little further down and don't forget ESPN zone has an arcade next to it.

Big river has some good beer, and I really enjoyed the steak I got there. We went on a Thursday night on our last trip, there were two magicians performing. When it's not busy with people going to espn or jellyrolls, it's a very nostalgic atmosphere.

I have stayed there over 40 nights in my lifetime. We had street performers every night.

How do I get there from the WL or the CSR?
You can take a bus to DHS and then either take the boat over or walk it. There are no buses from DHS to Boardwalk unless it's thunder storming, but it's a quick boat ride, or you can walk. Alternatively, you can take a bus to MK and then take a bus to Boardwalk. Unless you plan on walking all the way through Epcot, do not take a bus there. There are two entrances to Epcot. The buses drop you off at the main entrance. Boardwalk uses the International Gateway, which is in Worldshowcase in between the UK and France. There is no bus to Boardwalk, so you'll have to walk all the way through the park if you do that. I think the DHS option is your best one.

There is nighttime entertainment, restaurants, and shops. Carnival games may be going away (this is unconfirmed).

The best thing about Boardwalk is being so close to Epcot and DHS. You can walk to both. You can also walk to Fantasia Gardens for mini golf. The pool is nice there (though not like Stormalong Bay at Y/B). You can walk to Swan/Dolphin and Y/B and enjoy their restaurants (Captain's Grille is great for breakfast, Cape May and Yachtsman are both excellent dinner options).

Worth staying there for the bakery. Ride a bicycle built for one, two, or four. There is usually at least one performer each night. Walk to Epcot, DHS, and Fantasia Gardens. We're DVC and I wasn't that impressed with the rooms compared to BLT and OKW. But to me that's minor when you can walk to Epcot. Just need a bed.

Jellyrolls is super fun! The guys are great -- and lively. Do get there before 9 pm and be prepared to pay $12 (I think that's the amount) to enter. It's well worth it. Oh, and you cannot take videos there--I attempted to and was shut down promptly and felt foolish. There were no signs (from what I saw in the dark place) posted saying "no video taping"; otherwise, I would not have even attempted to do so.

Heard all the beautiful women hang at the dance hall. ;)

You know what's funny? I have never seen a person walk into this Dance Hall. I go to Jellyrolls, and have thought: "Hm...is that Dance Hall really open?" It seems as though Jellyrolls brings in more people. Of course, this is all stated from my subjective observation.

I agree, it's usually empty. Jellyrolls is pretty packed most of the time.
