If you get yourself a beverage and stroll you will encounter the performers outside along the Boardwalk. There is usually a juggler who is very funny, a guy with a piano built into his bike, a magician etc...They stop and perform for 15 minutes or so and they are so entertaining. My kids absolutely love it as well!

I always have small children in tow so I really don't get to shop as I would like; however from what I have seen all the stores at the resorts have mostly the same stuff...maybe some resort specific things here and there but mostly all the items are universal which is a little disappointing. I could be wrong about The Boardwalk shops though.

If you are taking kids and walking around the Boardwalk it wan't take long. I don't think I would make a special trip after Epcot closes, maybe try it on a night that Epcot has EMH so you can get back in the park. This would be a lot easier trying to figure out transportation if you parked at Epcot or plan using Disney buses. If you are goiong for the night life I would park at the Boardwalk.

Yeah, you are probably right. Transportation could be an issue. I wouldn't want to get stranded!!

I cut and paste this from past posts that I collected for a future BoardWalk visit:

Boardwalk Activities:
Midway Games - Carnival games along the Boardwalk (BWR)
The Yard Arcade - Arcade games and more (BWR)

Bayside Marina - Bicycle & boat rentals, Fishing excursions, sea raycers and other

specialty cruises (DYC)
Cabana Beach Hut - Swan paddle boats and other watercraft rentals (Dolphin)
Friendship Boats - Take a free ride around the lake and check out the sites

Surrey Bike Rental - Bikes built for two or four

Fantasia Gardens - Mini Golf (Dolphin/Swan)

Kimonos Restaurant – Japanese food and sushi with Karaoke

Boardwalk Bakery and Boardwalk Joe’s - Great coffee even better pastries (BWR)
Java Bar - Great little coffee shop (Swan)

Beaches and Cream (Y&BCR) – Ice Cream Parlor

The Fountain (Dolphin) - – Ice Cream ParlorSeashore Sweets - Candy store and more; Sugar - Candy store with an edge (Dolphin)
Shopping - There are more than a dozen wonderful shops to indulge any spree

Galleria Sottil - Art Gallery (Dolphin)
Wyland Gallery - Art Gallery (BWR)

The "streetmosphere" is year round although weather does play a role in the performances (BWR)

*As for Jellyrolls with the dueling pianos, it is a Bar and according to its rules and regs, you must be 21 to join in the fun. Although you may want to check, they may allow accompanied teens on certain nights.

If you're staying at the Boardwalk, and you don't hit up both Kouzzina and Flying Fish, you're missing out. Both are along the better restaurants in their respective dining classes on property. Kouzzina should be tried for both breakfast and dinner, as both menus are fantastic.

Jellyrolls is a firm 21 and over. Accompanied minors are not allowed entry at any time. They do not serve food (aside from the free popcorn), so it is viewed as an adults-only lounge experience. I can't imagine it would be much fun for many kids, anyway. It's mostly kitschy nostalgia. Fun, but not exactly universally appealing. More of a "mom and dad being dorky and embarrassing" kind of vibe.

We just got back from a stay at the Boardwalk. The surrey bike rentals are a lot of fun. You get a half hour, and you ride them around the Boardwalk/Beach & Yacht Club route. I also really like the gift shop there, and the sweet shop that has ice cream & candy. Boardwalk Bakery has some good desserts as well.

I agree that the magicians & performers are entertaining. We stopped to watch them a few times. =-)

As for transportation - I would walk over to DHS and grab a bus back to AoA. Or you can take a bus from the Boardwalk to Downtown Disney, and transfer to an AoA bus.

Our favorite things to do on the Boardwalk and surrounding resorts are:

Dining or getting a snack at one of the many restaurants
Getting a drink from the Bell Vue Room or Boardwalk Joe's and wandering around
Getting desert from Seashore Sweets
Mini Golfing
Swan Boats

Another option is after DHS closes then head over to the Boardwalk. It's a short boat ride, or walk (it may feel longer if you have spent the entire day walking at the park) from DHS. If you went on a evening that Epcot had evening EMH and DHS usually is closing about 8pm or so that would give you lots of time. I enjoy going to ESPN and having a cold one and catching whatever game is on that night. They make a good milkshake also at ESPN if that is something you like.

Not worth it. Wyland gallery has high end art, much in a similar sealife vein as his big scale works, but is pretty small. Same as the branch they have in the Poly. ESPN has a small gift area, and there is the typical resort gift shop.

Can anyone tell me the best way to get back to AOA from the Boardwalk around 11pm??

Cab to AoA, or bus BW->DTD->AoA. Slight chance that DHS buses might still be running as they should go for 2 hrs after close. But you would need to figure 15 mins to get from BW to DHS, so if they close at 9, you would need to be hoofing it over by 10:40 or so at the latest.
