Boardwalk Inn

Finally after weeks of contemplating, I finally booked Boardwalk Inn for 8 nights. Initially we were going with POFQ but decided with Boardwalk instead.

1. Do you think we made the right choice of going with BW than POFQ?
2. Do you think I should upgrade it to water view?

I have to be honest my favorite hotel off the back gate of Epcot is the Yacht Club. However, you can't go wrong moving up into a deluxe level hotel.

Concerning the waterview, you need to ask yourself how much time you'll be spending in the room to actually enjoy the view that would make it worthwhile. I know we don't usually spend enough time in the room to warrant it. We leave in the morning and don't come back until the evening and pretty much fall into bed, so not much time to really be taking in the waterview.

Personally Boardwalk is my favorite resort (other than the poly)! It's atmosphere is wonderful. It reminds you of how the "good ole days" use to be back when Atlantic City was in it's prime! Their service is second to none for sure and the location couldn't be any better! You are right by Epcot so you could catch Illuminations many times with no problems and there are so many places to eat within walking distance. As far as a water front room... I agree that you need to decide how much time you will be spending on the balcony. If you are the kind of person who enjoys to sit out on your balcony and have a cup of coffee in the morning/evening and just take in the "Disney Magic" then i definitely would. But if you wont be in the room much then there is no use in wasting more money if you don't have to. I think you made an excellent decision!! ENJOY!!!

Personally, yes...I absolutely think you made the right decision! You will love the location and atmosphere of the Boardwalk.

As for the view, I agree with the other posters that it depends on how much time you will spend on your balcony. For both of our stays at the Boardwalk in 2009, we went with a standard view room. Both times, we were pretty much looking out onto the entrance area of the Inn (where DME drops off/picks up). It wasn't a big deal to us (not noisy or anything like that)...just personal preference I guess.

Have a FABULOUS trip!

Fabulous choice! We love the Boardwalk!!:sohappy:
As far as the upgrade, like someone already posted you have to decide how much time you will be taking that view in to justify the money. I would probably go for it!

Thanks all.. that is very comforting. During commuting I thought hard about it wonder if I made the wrong decision :) But looking at the resort pictures again then reading you guys comments really convince me.

June 09 can't come soon enough!!

I've been doing research about the resort.. but feel free to give me some suggestion of what to do there.

Thanks

No problem, you are going to have a fabulous time! Walking the Boardwalk at night/evening is so much fun, such a great atmosphere! We love Flying Fish Cafe, very nice signature seafood restaurant right there. Jelly Rolls is supposed to be a good time at night, dueling piano bar. The Boardwalk Bakery is amazing, definitely hit that a few times!! It really makes your Disney vacation feel like a true vacation, great escape destination!! You're making me crave another Boardwalk stay!!

Don't upgrade in advance unless your are going peak seasons or holidays. When you arrive and check in ask if there are water views available. If the answer is yes ask if you can have one. If they tell you there is an additionl charge ask if they can wave the fee. The room is vacant anyway and it cost the same to clean a garden room and a water view room. many times they will just do it. If not and you have to pay make sure the water view is something worth viewing. You could be on the side of the resort and just looking at....well water!

The Boardwalk is my favorite Disney Resort, with POFQ probably being in second. So I don't think you could go wrong with way with either of these. But being able to walk into Epcot or Hollywood Studios is awesome - and walking the Boardwalk in the morning & evening is beautiful.

I would say not to upgrade. We had our balcony facing the swan & dolphin and absolutely loved the peacefulness of it. It was a really nice view. We felt that the water view, in retrospect, would have been a bit louder. I actually wrote down my room number to request the same room whenever we stay there. Have fun!

BoardWalk is incredible.

Lake View rooms are super! But if you can't afford it, make sure you request a garden view room in the Main Building. The wings don't have as great of views...Main Building overlooks some pretty nice stuff.

The Boardwalk is great. I've never stayed there persnally, but how could you go wrong between its location and the multitude of things to do in the general area? I make it a point to drop in any time I'm in WDW, even if it's just for lunch.

Stuff to do

Our favorite thing to do in the Epcot resort area is hang out at the Yacht and Beach Club. I know that you can't swim there, but just looking at that huge pool is amazing. Try Beaches and Cream for an early dinner or late dessert. It's a 50's diner and gets very busy around meal times. The atmosphere is great. Every night on the beach there, they show a movie and have a bonfire where you can roast marshmallows. I'm sure Boardwalk shows movies too, but they always list the ones they are showing that week right on the beach. Again, the atmosphere is just amazing there.

You could also rent bikes to ride around the lake there. Hard work, but so fun! We did it with 8 of us when I was in junior high; what a laugh!

And if you like to walk, the walk to Hollywood Studios is so nice.
