Any one stay in just the INN not the villa's? We were able to get the military discount, for our june 11th trip (our first star wars weekend:sohappy:) We have a standard rate, any ideas of room/floor request?
and how scary is the clown pool? MY 8 yr old is terrified of clowns.
will be there 7 nights.

I have searched for threads but it seems the boardwalk inn seems to be the forgotton resort?

thanks for the help.. oh and most of our ADRs are on the monorail resorts, since our first reservation was camping at fortwilderness, so this trip will be a new adventure for sure..

thanks
Trish

Haven't stayed at the resort myself, but I can offer you advice on the pool. The clown itself doesn't seem all too scary, but each child reacts differently. There are a number of photos of the pool online that you can show your child as reference. See the reaction first and that should let you know what the result will be when you are there.

We just got back from BoardWalk, our room was just above and to the left of the Flying Fish Cafe sign. You can see our room lights on in the pic below.

Ask for a water/boardwalk view when you book and again when you check-in. Our room was perfect, great view and close to everything.

I know the OP mentions getting a standard rate, which I assumed would mean standard view. If this is the case, then it would be very hard to get a water view room unless they pay extra.

We stayed there a few years ago. The Inn is beautiful; we had a water view and were on the top floor above The Flying Fish overlooking the lake. It was not noisy at all and we only heard the boats blow their horns and not the people even when the boardwalk was crowded late at night. It was very nice to walk to EPCOT and grab the boat to the Studios.

My family didn't really like the fact that you had to go outside to eat/get a snack and they really didn't like the restaurants there. The kids loved the pool and slide! Now I am by no means a clown fan, if ya know what I mean :lookaroun , and I was fine. It's not a scary clown face, but a smiling one and you shoot out the mouth when you come down the slide.

Our biggest problem was with the transportation as all 5 area hotels shared the bus service and it took forever to get anywhere, we finally started to drive to the other parks.

I stay at the villas with my DVC. But were I paying cash, there's not a place I'd rather stay than the Boardwalk inn. You'll be in the garden spot of WDW.

We walked over there and checked everything out on our last trip, and are planning on staying there in October 2010. It will be DD's senior year of college, and she wants to do the Halloween party. She also LOVES Epcot, and being able to walk there will make it nice.

Since you have a standard room, see if you can request an upper floor with a good view of Epcot. My wife and I stayed at the Boardwalk Inn for our 3rd anniversary. We had a top floor room that looked out over the garden courtyard (standard view) on the side opposite of the lake. It's basically the backside of the building in the picture posted above. We could see Spaceship Earth with all it wandy glory lit up all night and had a great view of the Reflection of Earth fireworks.

The inn is one of our favorite resorts at WDW. We love the theming and loved walking out on the boardwalk every day to eat breakfast and select dinners. The pool isn't scary clown, just the one clown face at the end of the water slide. The only drawback with the pool is you have to walk across the resort to the villas side to get to it. There is a quiet pool on the Inn side though.

When it was just my wife and I going to the world, we used to love coming back from the parks and sitting out on the balcony of the Belle Vue Room lounge. It's a great place to enjoy the drink overlooking the boardwalk, watching the lights, people, and boats go by.

If you haven't looked at it already, check out All Ears' info on Deb's site about the Boardwalk Inn.

Thanks everyone!

I will be sure to ask for a view of Epcot on our reservation requests:)

I've shown our youngest the clown pool photo's and I think the slide is what won her over. Our oldest(who graduates HS) is so excited that she can walk to HS and Epcot, maybe this year we will get to see Illuminations! It's been a few yrs.
We have gone to WDW in the summer only twice(86 and 93) so I am trying to decide on mister fans or not. Oh don't get me wrong, it was wicked hot and humid one October, there were alot of cranky kids/adults during MNSSHP that yr.Even the Floridians were complaining  and we are from St. Louis where the weather can change hourly

I believe we will drive to AK and maybe MK depending on how the crowds are. We have an 805am adr for crystal palace on the 15th, so that means we will have to be getting up super early to take the bus, unless we drive to the TTC? take the monorail over....

We will have the 5 day tickets w hopper.(military tickets) I'm still debating on the water park option as it's been a long time, since we visited a water park. That may be a last minute add on, depends on the weather..

Thanks again for everyones help, I was glad to hear alot of great things about the boardwalk.. now if I could only convince DH into a DVC...

laughter and smiles

Although it's not the same as being right at lagoon level inside the park, the next best view is from the BoardWalk Inn. You can also see the Magic Kingdom fireworks quite well from the boardwalk itself. So, one way or another you should have your fill of fireworks!

This is Illuminations from the Innkeeper's Club balcony....
