*mental note: dont mess around with master yoda*

i havent done that yet, but the funny thing is, the guy changed identities between the sales of the 2 blueprints and i had to track him down. he was kind of surprised i found him under some new name. scumbag isnt getting away with my money and no blueprint.
Here is a brief synopsis of what happened to me and you will see why I have adopted the 24 day rule. I won an auction for an original “Revenge of the Jedi Poster”. I paid the buyer ($180)within a few minuets of winning the auction. I waited for 2 weeks no poster. Sent e-mail to seller inquiring about the shipment of the poster. He claimed that he had shipped it already. Waited 1 more week still no poster. E-mailed again same lame response. Shortly after this I received an e-mail from another person that one the same poster from the same seller a week before I won mine. He had not received his yet and wondered if I had received mine. My response was of course no and he forwarded me the e-mails that this seller had sent to him. They were the exact same responses that had been sent to me. At that point I contacted Paypal and told them what was going on. They told me that there was nothing that they could do because it had been more that thirty days. Hence the 24 day e-bay rule was adopted at the Master Yoda household.

I've never had any problems on ebay! Maybe that is because I only buy from people with over 90% of positive responces (I believe that the people I have bought from have actually never been below 96%). The closest thing to a problem that I had was the Electronic Piano that I won (brand new:D) was like one day late. That, however, I blame on the shipping, not the seller.

Disney blueprints, a topic near and dear to my heart

I've never been stiffed on an ebay purchase although a few times I had to repeatedly email the seller. As for disney blueprnts I've had great luck with macbethfl and some guy from Alaska (guy from alaska is more expensive but has/ had more blueprints for sale, I don't see any of his auctions this week though)

I got a bunch of elevations of POTC (FL version) last year. Somewhat interesting but they were just the elevations of the backstage sides. Useful for figuring heights but not helpful on the layout. There are 2 pages of CA version of POTC that have been floating around the net/ ebay for years. More useful in getting the layout of the big scenes. I took the CA plans and cut and pasted the scenes into the FL layout

As for the HM I got 20 pages or so of the FL version at 11x17 sheets. I got them off ebay but you could also try poking around the messageboards at doombuggies.com. There's also some plans and elevations of the CA version around. I'm pretty sure there are elevations of the FL version in the files section of the group I moderate (insert shameless plug here) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/disneyworldmodelersclub/

Hope that helps, Let me know if you have any questions, I always love to get geeky about blueprints

No it is not. Chances are that seller was violating numerous copyright laws reproducing and selling Disney blueprints without permission.

Funny thing is, he's still alive and well over at Yahoo Auctions (just under a different name).

To paraphrase you, Master Yoda, "P_ssed off I Am."

I'd be suprised if it was because of copyright infringement. My suspicion was that it's the same guy I bought my blueprints from who had a majorly bad reputation on ebay and kept changing his ebay identity (He never stiffed me on a sale but it allways took a month or so to fill the order and I've seen people on other boards that had bigger problems with him)

Naturally, I had already sent over payment via paypal when the ebay emails came. I sent him an email saying that he could either send me the blueprints or send my money back -- his choice. We'll see what happens.

I am very surprised that Disney doesn’t sell the blueprints themselves. There is obviously a large market for it. I would love to have some exterior and interior elevations of my favorite rides. I’ve never been a big fan of the traditional framed art that you get at Garden Ridge or Target but I have always loved architectural renderings and elevations.

You are probably right. It just seemed a little odd that someone could reproduce those blueprints and sell them without Disney’s permission.

I know -- this looks right up the "Art of Disney" alley. Probably some kind of post-9/11 concerns. I think that's why you can't get up and close with the parade floats anymore on the backstage tours. Then again, maybe they're just not wanting to "tip their hand." I do know that the Cinderella castle ones appeared in one of the imagineering books, but it was the background of a page, not a full featured graphic.

I thought of the 9-11 thing too but you couldn’t get anymore info out of an elevation than you could a photograph.

Not sure if this got posted, but a person selling blue prints on EBay has been removed. I was bidding on blueprints for HM, and I got an email from EBay telling me that they ended the auction and not to deal with the seller via email because they could not guatrantee the transaction. Just a heads up.

I don't think not selling elevations is a 9/11 concern. I just think there's not that big a call for elevations of buildings (besides the castle of course). Plans of the buildings are available from Reedy creek despite security concerns (they wanted to stop allowing access to them but they're a government and they couldn't do it legally). I got some blueprints from them but they took my info and and I think they said they were going to share it with the FBI
