BLSRS blaster upgrade?

The new Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters attraction opened up at DL yesterday and MouseInfo has posted an update about it. Their version of the popular TDL and MK ride got the blasters that were also used on TDL's version. Will we ever see these come to the MK? The blasters right now are a pain to use and new one would be of great help.

I hope it happens. BLSRS blasters are annoying and can't reach certain targets most of the time. I for one would welcome the change.

Ok, i'm a little confused. The astro blaster at DL is like space ranger spin, not the astro blaster at disney quest? I wondered why they were putting the disney quest ride there, seemed odd. :hammer:

After looking at the video, the WDW version needs to copy alot more than the blasters from this version. They took a 3 star attraction (WDW version) and turned it into a 4 star attraction at Disneyland.

I have to agree. We definitely got the shaft.

I guess in all fairness, it's not as much "we got the shaft" as much as it is "they've just made DL's version a whole heck of a lot better than ours"

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin = Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters

The reason for the name change is in part due to the fact that they want to underplay the spinning part, and hype up the interactivity part online in the comming months.

^ Actually, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters:p

Seriously though- ours has been open for 7-8 years and DL's just opened- i would hope there would be improvements over the original.

Keep in mind that ours was simply just a layover. It was nothing more than a cheap improvement over Dreamflight. However, it is extremely successful, and has ended up being a cookie-cutter replacement for DL/TDL/DLP's Circlevision theaters.

Honestly, I like the spaciousness our version has. The large rooms are nice. I just wish we got some of the detail that the new version has (the final fight, plus all of the small animatronics and details in the ride). If we could get those improvements plus the improved guns, I'd be a very happy camper.

Then again, it's nice to have distinct, yet simliar versions of attractions between DL and WDW.

I like the way our guns are. It adds to the challenge, IMO.

And about DLR getting something that's "better" than us, it's nothing new. Look at the quality of some of their attractions compared to ours. They've also got a lot less than we do.

A lot of that "better" stuff is subjective, except for the amount of rides. Disneyland has 40 rides, and WDW's Magic Kingdom has 33 rides. (I counted the Main Street fire truck, horseless carriage and Omnibus as one ride for both parks. And I didn't count the Main Street Cinema at all at Disneyland.) And while Disneyland's Tomorrowland is just now recovering from a horrible Pressler-induced era, the much improved Buzz Lightyear 2.0 and the reportedly VASTLY improved Space Mountain 2.0 still won't be able to compete with the extra rides WDW still has in their Tomorrowland.

But the absence of many classic Disneyland rides at WDW's Magic Kingdom is what pushes Disneyland over the edge on the sheer number of rides. Indiana Jones Adventure, Matterhorn Boblseds and Star Tours are 3 popular E Tickets WDW doesn't have in their Magic Kingdom. Plus Disneyland's Toontown is a much more impressive experience, and the D Ticket Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin was oddly never copied in Florida. StorybookLand Canal Boats are another popular D Ticket oddly missing in Florida. Also Alice In Wonderland, Mr. Toads Wild Ride, Casey Jr. Circus Train and Pinnochio's Daring Journey are nice C Tickets. And then there's Disneyland-specific river rides like Sailing Ship Columbia and Explorer Canoes. I know the Florida weather plays a big part in the decision not to build some of those rides in central Florida, but still.

All that said, I loved WDW's Buzz Lightyear when I happened upon it in late 1999. And the video, pictures and early ride reports now on the Internet all loudly state that the Disneyland version is a distinct and clear improvement over the first WDW version. Just the guns alone, and the special effects they offer, could be something that WDW could retrofit on to their older ride I would think.

Where can i see pics of the new ride??:veryconfu

Here ya go.
I also like those new guns. They look comfortable and the ride itself looks great. I cant believe that entire ride is in what used to be a Circle-Vision Theatre. WDW's version, as much as I would love to see it be like DL's, I think its better if ours stays like it is or becomes even better than DL's. But I dont think it would be cool to have a direct copy of the attraction in each park. Each park should have a different version that way its not the exact same song and dance everywhere you go.
