Blown Away By Prices

We are looking at going to Disney from October 13th till either the 19th and or 18th. We have 3 children 9,8,5 and have gone to disney quite a few times before and always did the dining plan and we were always under 2 grand easy. I'm looking now and it's ridiculous? I mean I'm talking 4 grand before airfare at a moderate hotel like Port Orleans and Animal Kingdown was 1k a night...What gives? The chat guy tried to tell me those are normal prices....Mind you those prices were without park tickets and or the dining plan...With those we were at 4 grand for Port Orleans.

WPW I am sorry I would never spend upwards $10,000 on a disney vacation. I understand the hoopla over staying at a Disney Deluxe resort but why? At most you may be in the room at night just to sleep and maybe take a dip in the pool. The Grand Floridian is snooty and the other deluxe results are just way to expensive for the amenaties they provide. I would however stay at the Polynesian. Yet, I have a timeshare and can get a 3 bedroom at any of the Marriots within 15 minutes from the gate of WDW for about $600 for a week (7 nights/8 days).

Why not go with a cheaper hotel? We always book value when Florida resident discounts are offered. Go mid or even value? Get a suite at a value resort. Since your kids are small get a regular room and maybe bring small air matress for one if you can't get two kids in a bed with one adult. What is the average price of the dining plan per day? Perhaps going quick service and bring some snacks with you might help you too. We have found the dining plan to not be worth it for us. We have the luxuary of a car because we drive so we'll drive offsite for meals sometimes and every bit helps. The offsite hotel is also a big deal saver. There is some cost cutting you can do just about everywhere but the tickets. You just have to think it through. Good luck.
